Overview
Imagine a chrome eagle, a symbol of an unchanging American road, suddenly deciding to shed its feathers and don a suit of carbon armor. That’s roughly the shockwave caused by this 2023 CVO Street Glide. Harley-Davidson, closely trailing Indian on its own turf, is no longer content to evolve with mere cosmetic patches. No, this is a palate revolution, the deepest since the Rushmore project ten years ago. They haven't redesigned a motorcycle; they've reinvented a dogma.

The first glance is an uppercut. Farewell to the sacred Batwing fairing, that totem unchanged since 1969. In its place is a sharp, almost aggressive face, with its Omega headlight with razor-sharp angles and integrated light whiskers. The windshield advances like a visor, the fuel tank tightens like a muscle. The image has brutally entered the 21st century, without asking anyone’s permission. And that’s just the beginning. The front suspension speaks volumes about the new intentions: an inverted 47 mm fork and Brembo radial calipers clamping massive 320 mm discs. This is far from the softness of the traditional chrome fork; here, we speak the language of the road gun, almost sport touring. A strong, almost incongruous signal on a Harley, announcing the color: this 380-kilo beast is not planning to dawdle.
Because the real upheaval rumbles beneath the fuel tank. The mythical Milwaukee-Eight grows even larger to reach 1977 cm3, and it finally gets variable valve timing, a first for the brand's large twin. The effects are striking. With 115 horsepower and, above all, 182.4 Nm of torque available from 3500 rpm, this engine no longer pushes, it propels with the authority of a locomotive. The mass seems to evaporate on throttle opening, lifted by a wave of obscene torque. This is the real technical response to Indian and its Challenger, a leap forward that finally bridges the technological gap with modern competition. They even lightened the whole assembly by 14 kilos, a salutary diet for this giant.

On board, the generational leap is just as radical. The ancient dashboard has been swept away in favor of a giant TFT screen, named Skyline, which swallows all instrumentation. Apple CarPlay, GPS, voice recognition, audio equalizer for the powerful Rockford Fosgate sound system... you're in the cockpit of a spaceship, not on a chopper seat. The electronics logically follow suit, with ABS and cornering traction control, torque control, five riding modes, and the inevitable linked braking. For the demanding touring rider, it’s an unprecedented level of comfort and safety under the banner with the emblem.
So, is this €46,000 CVO Street Glide the perfect motorcycle? For the Harley purist attached to ritual and retro aesthetics, it may be a betrayal, too technical, too clinical. But for the modern touring rider who wants the Harley aura and comfort without compromising on performance and technology, it’s a revelation. It’s proof that Milwaukee can finally play in the same league as the BMW R 18 Transcontinental or the Honda Gold Wing, without renouncing its theatrical power. They haven't just released a new limited motorcycle; they may have saved the future of the American grand tourer.
