Overview
When a range grows, junior models rarely inherit unconditionally. The Ducati Multistrada V2 S was built in the shadow of its larger V4 sibling, and this power dynamic dictated everything: the Testastretta 937 cc twin remains the symbolic engine of the mid-range lineage, where the Granturismo four-cylinder crushes all before it. Bologna made the decision, and this partition holds up. The V2 S is no longer a cut-price V4; it has finally assumed its own identity, which serves it well against direct competition, such as a BMW F 900 XR or a Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro that play in the same price bracket.

What distinguishes the Ducati Multistrada V2 S from the 950 S it replaces is less about spectacle and more about rigor. The engine gains 2 kg thanks to work on the clutch, connecting rods, and gearbox, without affecting peak performance. It remains at 113 horsepower at 9000 rpm and 96 Nm of torque at 7750 rpm, for a fully fueled weight of 225 kg. The machine also sheds 5 kg overall, distributed between the engine, the 1.7 kg lighter wheels, brake calipers, and even the mirrors. It’s not a revolution; it’s a serious refinement. The seat height drops slightly, to 830 mm, which doesn't make it an easy mount for shorter riders, but the effort is real. The 35 kW version also opens the machine to A2 license holders, which considerably expands the potential market for the Ducati Multistrada V2 S used.
The real shift occurs in the electronic equipment of the S trim. Ducati has literally transferred the philosophy of the V4S to this trellis steel frame with a double-sided aluminum swingarm. Skyhook Evo semi-active suspension systems pilot compression, preload, and rebound in real time on the 48 mm inverted fork and the rear mono-shock. Four riding modes, Sport, Touring, Urban, and Enduro, calibrate the whole package, and the result on the road is clear: the motorcycle adapts without the rider having to think about settings. Adaptive cornering lights, cruise control, a bidirectional quickshifter, a 5-inch TFT screen, a 6-axis inertial unit, cornering ABS, and hill-hold assist are also added. For a Ducati Multistrada V2 S travel-oriented touring trail, this is the expected equipment at this price level.

This price level, indeed, deserves a closer look. At 17,490 euros, the V2 S firmly positions itself in the high-end of mid-size trails. It’s 4700 euros less than the V4 S, which represents a significant difference for a machine that offers 57 fewer horsepower and less torque, but a comparable riding experience on the open road. The 20-liter tank combined with a consumption figure of 5.9 liters per 100 km guarantees correct autonomy around 330 km, essential for touring use. The downside is a detail that says a lot about a commercial philosophy: heated grips remain an option on a motorcycle at this price. Ducati knows how to handle the art of the accessories catalog, between cases, center stand, Termignoni silencer, and spoked wheels; the final bill quickly climbs.

Who is the Ducati Multistrada V2 S 2025 for? For the rider who wants the soul of an L-twin with the benefits of high-end electronics, without wanting to manage the excessive power of a four-cylinder. The demanding globetrotter, the self-sufficient traveler, the person who seeks a versatile tool without compromising on the quality of finish. The BMW F 900 XR will be cheaper and lighter, the Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro more accessible in terms of ergonomics, but neither one transmits that mechanical character that the Testastretta twin imposes with every acceleration. That is precisely what Ducati sells, and on that point, the V2 S keeps its promise without reservation.
