Overview
Is this still an anomaly in the Ducati lineup? Looking closely, the Multistrada has become a backbone, an essential model. And to enter this demanding family, there is now the V2. A designation that sounds like a technical manifesto, like the Panigale, to clearly mark the boundary with the excess of the V4. But don't be fooled, this V2 is not a revolution. It's the faithful 957, meticulously reworked with an obsession: to lighten the spirit and the body. Five small kilograms less doesn't seem like much on paper, but on the scale of sensations, it's a world. The regime has been reworked everywhere: lighter rims, redesigned footrests, refined mirrors, and even a clutch that has lost 1.5 kg. The result? A machine that displays 222 kg fully fueled, a liveliness promised from the first bends.

Under the 20-liter tank, the heart beats the same as before, and that's very good news. The 937 cm³ L-twin cylinder, with its desmodromic distribution so dear to purists, delivers its 113 horsepower with exemplary generosity. We are far from the nervous assault of the V4 and its 170 horsepower, but here, the power is accessible, the 96 Nm of torque present without being brutal. This is the ideal recipe for a trail that aims to be versatile, capable of taking you to the office as well as the end of a forest track without ever tiring you. An engine that sings, not that screams. For new licenses, Ducati has even thought of an A2 version. A noble gesture, but at nearly 16,000 euros, we are in a different league than the Honda CB500X. Entry into the courtyard is selective, reserved for those for whom mechanical pleasure is priceless.
Comfort has not been forgotten in this slimming cure. The redesigned saddle sits at 830 mm, offering greater freedom of movement and a welcome clearness at the crotch. For those worried about gravity, an option allows you to lower it to 79 cm. The electronics, without reaching the splendor of the S version and its TFT screen, remain serious: four customizable riding modes, eight-level traction control, cornering ABS. It is sufficient, effective, without useless frippery. The frame, for its part, confirms the sporty DNA of the brand. Steel trellis frame, 48 mm inverted fork, Sachs monoshock, and Brembo radial braking that inspires absolute confidence. It is a healthy, rigorous base, ready for long escapes as well as tight sequences.
So, who is this Multistrada V2 for? For the demanding globetrotter who is looking for the Ducati soul without the excesses of the V4. For the motorcyclist who wants a unique machine, capable of doing everything with elegance and efficiency, rather than a hyperspecialized specialist. It doesn't make a fuss, it does the job. It simply aims to be an excellent motorcycle, refined, lively, and terribly consistent. A purgatory? Far from it. It is rather a beautiful definition of long-distance motorcycling pleasure.
