Overview
Who would have bet, twenty years ago, that Ducati would find its greatest commercial success with an adventure bike? The Multistrada, this initial oddity, is now a mainstay. And its entry-level model, the V2, plays a crucial role: offering the wings of the Bolognese brand without demanding the heart of a fighter pilot or the wallet of a banker. With its 113 horsepower drawn from a 937 cm3 L-twin, it sits in an ideal power bracket: bite enough to never be boring, without ever becoming intimidating like its big sister V4 and its 170 horsepower.

Ducati’s game is subtle. The V2 is not a revolution, but a targeted evolution of the previous 950. The design remains faithful, which prevents it from living in the shadow of the V4 and preserves its true personality. The real magic happens on the scales. By shaving off weight in various places – lighter rims, revised clutch, optimized engine components – the engineers have lightened the machine by 5 kilos. At 222 kg fully fueled, it’s not a featherweight, but the difference is felt, especially in weight transfers. The 94 Nm of torque is there, available, and the six-speed gearbox has been refined for greater fluidity. It’s an engine with character, without the brutality that can be fatiguing on long distances.
Ducati has also thought about accessibility, with a redesigned saddle at 830 mm, thinner at the crotch, and lowered footpegs. An adventure bike remains an adventure bike, but the effort to facilitate urban riding is notable. The opening to the A2 version is more of a marketing gesture than a real target, because at over 16,000 euros, it’s far from the first learning adventure bike. The electronic equipment, although lacking the color TFT screen reserved for the S version, remains serious with its four riding modes, cornering ABS, and traction control. This is enough to cover all uses, from sporty touring to excursions on unpaved roads.
The chassis, inherited from the 950, confirms the sporty DNA of the brand. The trellis frame, the 48 mm inverted fork, and the Brembo radial brakes offer precision and bite that make a difference compared to softer competitors like some Japanese models. This is where the money is invested: in pure sensations, a rigidity that forgives little of poor roads but rewards the attentive rider. The 20-liter tank promises beautiful ranges, perfect for the demanding globetrotter.
Ultimately, the Multistrada V2 does not seek to dazzle with record figures. It offers an intelligent and refined compromise for those who want a Ducati capable of doing everything, without the excesses and price of the V4. It’s the machine of the traveling motorcyclist who has not given up the pleasure of running a little, who appreciates the finish and character of Italian mechanics. It is not cheap, but it confidently assumes its premium positioning with rare versatility.
