Overview
No premature condemnation... We can hardly imagine Meryl Streep or Anne Hathaway* on this upscale version of the wicked Italian roadster. The Diavel is Ducati’s dragster, a big-league cannonball, the bike you carefully position in front of a yacht and furiously start up in Las Vegas. And here, it’s a superb pretext for treating yourself to a machine combining muscle and refinement. Even more premium than the Carbon, featuring noble materials and reinforced controlled rage, the Diavel Titanium ignites desire.
With this complementary name and Ducati’s “artisanal” approach, this special edition had to incorporate some titanium elements. This noble material, formerly used for SR-71 Blackbird aircraft or Russian attack submarines. But here, no Cold War; rather, the warmth of luxury. It is used for the headlight cover and the external layer of the fuel tank. For the seat cover, two elements are brought together: a titanium insert and a carbon fiber trim. This fiber is widely used on this Diavel, for the mudguards, radiator covers, the sprocket cover, a peripheral trim piece around the fuel cap and LCD screen, the mini windscreen and redesigned forced air intakes (specific to this version). This Diavel also gets its own forged aluminum rims, a black chrome frame, exhaust pipes coated in black Zircotec ceramic, as well as a luxurious seat combining leather, Alcantara and red stitching.
No changes on the engine and electronics side. The Ducati’s velocity is ensured by the large 11° Testastretta twin, delivering 162 horsepower, more than 13 mkg of torque, and enough to keep sensors and software busy. Present between the right hand and the rear wheel are the Ride-by-wire, 8-level traction control, ABS, riding modes and keyless start. This Diavel 1200 Titanium no longer smells of gunpowder but of glamorous evenings, even if it means showing off the Rolex before burning out the large 240 rear tire to boost the adrenaline rate. Like any series with an aura of prestige, this one will be produced in limited numbers. 500 units, each authenticated by a numbered plate on the fuel tank. The price is also quite wicked.
