Overview
At the end of 2010, Ducati announced a partnership with the Mercedes automobile brand (see MP news). This news was accompanied by a short promotional video where a Diavel raced a Mercedes CLS 63 AMG… A sort of prophetic clip, as the Italian brand will present at the Frankfurt Motor Show ’11 a special series of its roadster-custom: the 1200 Diavel AMG Special Edition.
Produced in limited numbers, this Diavel is dotted with nods to AMG’s performance division. For those who don’t know, this is a workshop specializing in transforming German star-badged sedans into power monsters, with large V8 engines producing around 500 horsepower.
As you might expect, there’s no question of finding 8 cylinders in the bowels of this Diavel. Starting with the Diavel Carbon, the Bologna manufacturer has refined an aura of prestige. The operation is aesthetic with a total black livery (Diamond White Bright) where only the trellis frame shines with Mercedes grey. The radiator fairings are complemented by aluminum grilles reminiscent of the grilles on the sedans. We discover superb double-spoke rims as well as special exhaust systems. These elements are distinguished by a design that is obviously very AMG-inspired. A logo that we find on the exhaust trim, the edge of the rims, the air intake vents, and on the upholstery. The latter is covered in Alcantara.
A small detail that we usually see exclusively on engines in prestigious cars: the left engine casing is signed by the technician who took care of the engine tuning. Just to understand which man has calibrated the 162 horsepower ready to massacre the 240 tire.
You can now order this Diavel AMG Special Edition but you will only have it in 2012. To distinguish yourself even more, the owner will be delighted to know that his machine will be branded with a numbered plate affixed to the tank.
