Overview
How many horsepower does it take to shake a racetrack? BMW has been answering that question for years with a fixed number, almost provocative: 212. Not one more, not one less. The 2024 BMW M 1000 RR retains that 999 cm³ inline four-cylinder engine pushed to 14,500 rpm, but Munich knows very well that raw power is no longer the only playing field. When the engine reaches its physical limits, we work on everything else.

And on that "rest," the Bavarian engineers have proven particularly methodical. The 2024 BMW M 1000 RR now exceeds a top speed of 314 km/h, compared to 306 in the previous generation. This gain doesn't come from a magic trick but from serious work on aerodynamics: new air ducts integrated into the front fender, reworked fairing, redesigned screen to better protect the rider without turning them into a human parachute. As a result, the machine generates 22.6 kg of downforce at high speed, nearly 6 kg more than the previous version. These figures are truly felt beyond 200 km/h, where the wings begin to bite into the air with conviction. For the rest of the time, it is mainly a statement of aesthetic and technical intent. The whole thing weighs 192 kg when fully fueled, which remains reasonable for such a muscular machine.
On the running gear, Munich hasn't touched what was already working well. The aluminum composite perimeter frame handles the 112.8 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm without flinching. The 45 mm inverted fork offers 120 mm of travel with full adjustment, the rear shock works on 118 mm under the same conditions. The Nissin braking system with its two 320 mm discs gripped by radial four-piston calipers is directly derived from the Superbike, and it shows. Race Pro ABS accompanies all this with the possibility of partially deactivating it for track riders who know what they are doing. The seven riding modes, from the most docile "Rain" to the three fully customizable "Race Pro" profiles, transform this track beast into something almost manageable on the road. The standard heated grips further blur the lines.

The 2024 BMW M 1000 RR is primarily aimed at experienced riders, those who have already crossed the threshold of a racetrack and want a competition-homologated machine ready to live its weekends in Superstock. The price of the BMW M 1000 RR is set at 33,620 euros, and it would be naive to stop there: the list of options is long and the final bill easily climbs. For this budget, Italian competition remains an absolute reference. The Ducati Panigale V4 R pushes the sporting logic even further with its Desmosedici Stradale R engine and a design conceived for WSBK from the beginning. BMW plays on a different terrain: less Latin sensuality, more systematic engineering and assumed versatility.

What the BMW M 1000 RR does better than many is to convince both the seasoned rider and the one who dreams of a competition replica for their Sunday outings. Since the 2021 BMW M 1000 RR, the machine has gained maturity with each evolution, honing its weapons without ever renouncing its philosophy. The 2024 version reinvents nothing, it refines. And in this register, it is often enough to remain at the top.
