Overview
When Noale celebrates four decades of 125 sportbikes, the response to the new Euro 5+ standards doesn’t look like a capitulation. The Aprilia RS 125 2026 features traction control. On fifteen horsepower. Some will scoff, and that’s a shame, because this choice says something important about the philosophy of the transalpine manufacturer: the little one receives the same attention as the big ones, with the same engineering rigor as on the RSV4 with 220 horsepower.

The line, first of all, sharply contrasts with the competition. The design office clearly drew inspiration from the RS 660, and the result holds up: daytime running lights integrated into the headlights, Aprilia RS 125 bodywork with sharp edges, a low and taut silhouette that communicates a sense of urgency even when stationary. Faced with the Honda CBR125R and the Yamaha YZF-R125, which play more of a calculated sobriety card, Noale stands out. It assumes an aggressive aesthetic that leaves no doubt about its target audience: the young A1 license holder who wants to learn motorcycling the right way, not through a watered-down version of the driving pleasure.
The Aprilia RS 125 engine beating under the bodywork is a 124.2 cm3 four-stroke engine, far from the legendary two-stroke technology that earned the brand twenty world titles in 125. Those who still scour classified ads to find an Aprilia RS 125 2t used know that this era no longer exists except in memories and a few well-stocked garages. Here, the single-cylinder engine turns with a compression ratio between 12 and 12.6:1, which is high for the category, and delivers its 15 regulated horsepower at 10,500 rpm. The torque of 11.4 Nm peaks at 8,500 rpm. The 6-speed gearbox works cleanly, the chain transmission does what it’s asked, and the final ratio favors acceleration over maximum speed, capped at 120 km/h. Honest overall, lower than what some hope for when de-restricted, but the law is the law. The quickshifter remains optional for those who want to refine their corner entries.

What’s really surprising is the quality of the chassis for this price of 5,699 euros. The perimeter aluminum double beam, the 40 mm inverted fork with 110 mm of travel, the 120 mm stroke rear monoshock: this is an architecture rarely seen at this level of range. The J.Juan four-piston caliper biting on a 300 mm disc at the front confirms that the engineers haven’t cut corners on what matters. The 820 mm saddle will force some toe-pointing for smaller pilots, and the 144 kg when full don’t make the RS a feather, but it remains perfectly manageable in sequences. The LCD dashboard displays the essential information on a blue or white background according to preferences, and smartphone connectivity via Aprilia MIA remains optional, which is a little stingy considering the price.

The Aprilia RS 125 2026 is not for those looking for an Aprilia RS 125 used at a low price to ride without complications. This segment exists, it is well supplied, and the classifieds are full of alternatives from the 1998, 1999, 2000 and beyond vintages. The newcomer is aimed at those who want a serious riding school, with equipment up to their ambitions. After decades of building a reputation on circuits and mountain roads, the RS retains what it has always been: a proposition for riders, not for drivers.
