Overview
When Noale decides that a machine remains in the catalog, it’s not a marketing whim — it’s a statement of intent. The Aprilia RS 125 2025 version achieves Euro5+ certification and continues its journey, faithful to a lineage that goes back long before 4-stroke generations. For those who knew the frenzy of the former Aprilia RS 125 2t engines, the melody has changed — but the ambition remains strong.

What strikes you first is the appearance. The design studio clearly looked at the RS 660 before picking up the pencils, and the result gives this small displacement engine a sharper look, recessed turn signals integrated into the headlights, and a general line that plays in the league of the big bikes. The Aprilia RS 125 fairing doesn't revolutionize the existing design — the bodywork largely retains its original foundations — but the new decorations and these well-placed details are enough to carve out a credible silhouette against a KTM RC 125 or a Honda CBR 125R that rely on very different registers. No one is fooled by the displacement, but the sporty premise is fully embraced.
Under the fairing, a 124 cc 4-valve single-cylinder engine, bore of 58 mm for a stroke of 47 mm, compression ratio between 12 and 12.6:1. The engine expresses its 15 horsepower at 10,500 rpm and its torque of 11.5 Nm peaks at 8,500 rpm — figures that remain within the legality of the A1 restriction, it is impossible to extract more by law. The E5+ certification has slightly shifted the availability of this torque towards the upper end of the rev range, which requires a bit more use of the 6-speed gearbox. The 58-tooth sprocket compensates for what the displacement cannot offer, and in use the Aprilia RS 125 engine responds frankly as soon as you give it some air. The maximum speed is capped at 120 km/h, which is within the standard of the segment. As for the disengageable traction control that Aprilia deemed fit to integrate, on 15 horsepower and 144 kg fully fueled... we’ll appreciate the gesture, we’ll question its real usefulness.

The chassis, on the other hand, is no laughing matter: perimeter aluminum twin-spar frame, 40 mm inverted fork with 110 mm of travel, single rear shock absorber, J.Juan 300 mm front brake in radial mount with 4-piston caliper — serious equipment that you would find without blushing on machines with higher displacement. The 140/70-17 rear tire provides stability in corners, and Michelin Pilot Street tires outfit the whole with consistency for mixed road/commuting use. The dual-channel Bosch ABS monitors, the clip-on handlebars maintain a leaned-forward riding position without martyrizing the wrists. At €4,999, it is positioned at the top of the 125 sportbike market, but the level of equipment justifies the gap with competition that is often less well-equipped.

For a young A1 license holder looking for their first machine with sensations, or for a rider breaking in before moving on to higher displacement, the Aprilia RS 125 2025 constitutes a consistent choice. The LCD dashboard offers speed, revs, engine temperature, fuel level and even battery voltage — everything you need to manage an outing. Aprilia MIA connectivity remains an option, as does the quickshifter that will allow you to shift gears without cutting the throttle. These small extras testify to a house philosophy: treat the young rider as a real rider, not as an apprentice to whom toys are hidden. With 20 world titles in 125cc in its record, the Italian brand knows what it’s talking about when it designs a small-displacement sportbike. The heritage of the Aprilia RS 125 1998, 1999, 2000 and their 2-stroke cousins belongs to the past — that of the 2025 is written on the road, now.
