Overview
So, has Yamaha finally succeeded in transforming its Tracer 7 into a true touring machine, or does it remain that nice, perhaps a bit too tame motorcycle that watches adventures pass by? The adventure roadster market is an increasingly crowded ring, where every newcomer, from the CFMOTO 700 MT to the Triumph Tiger Sport 660, promises the world for a contained price. Facing this pack, the 2025 Tracer 7 GT bares its claws with an update that goes well beyond a simple facelift.

The first shock is visual. Gone is the somewhat timid front end, replaced by a more assertive face, with a 41 mm inverted fork that immediately lends serious, big-bike cred. It's a strong signal, a promise of more planted road holding. This feeling is confirmed with the adoption of radial-mount four-piston brake calipers and a lengthened swingarm. The chassis gains rigidity, ready to devour the asphalt with more authority. For the rider, daily life is pampered: heated grips, cruise control, and a modern 5-inch TFT screen become the norm. The windscreen, adjustable over 6 cm, is wider and taller, offering protection that makes you forget the old versions. On the luggage front, it's a revolution: the panniers inherited from the Tracer 9 GT offer 30 liters each and can swallow a full-face helmet, a carrying capacity that finally lives up to the GT label. However, one detail is annoying: the lack of a standard top case rack on a motorcycle bearing this badge is an incomprehensible choice that forces the buyer to dig into their pockets again.
Under the 18-liter tank, the heart still beats to the rhythm of the CP2 twin, now certified Euro 5+. With 73.4 horsepower and 68 Nm of torque, it's not chasing numbers. Its strength lies in its playful character, its crisp response from low revs, inherited from the MT-07. It will never be the most powerful against a Triumph triple, but it is formidably efficient and jovial for daily use. All this for a contained weight of 212 kg fully fueled, a major asset in the city or for low-speed maneuvers. The three riding modes and adjustable traction control allow you to match its mood to the road, from the daily commute to a weekend in the mountains.

So, who is this 2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 GT for? For the rider looking for a versatile companion, capable of commuting during the week without complaint, then loading up its panniers for a road trip on Friday night. It targets the practical tourer, perhaps a former adventure bike owner wanting more agility, or a serious beginner drawn by the CP2's reputation. At €11,499, it's not cheap, but it justifies its price against a more utilitarian but less exciting Honda NC750X, or a Versys 650 that may be less well-equipped as standard. It doesn't have the electronic sophistication of a Tiger Sport, but it bets on a coherent, reliable, and now much better-finished package. It's a successful evolution that finally addresses its historical equipment shortcomings. The question remains whether Yamaha Tracer 7 GT accessory enthusiasts will find much left to add, as the 2025 GT version now seems complete.
