Overview
It’s impossible to discuss the Yamaha Tracer 7 GT without mentioning the recipe that has made it successful. Take the beating heart of the MT-07, that 689 cm3 CP2 twin-cylinder engine delivering 73.4 horsepower and generous torque of 67 Nm, add a high-ergonomics trail frame, and you get a remarkably effective base. All this for an announced weight of 197 kilograms fully fueled, a figure that is forgotten once in the saddle as the motorcycle is agile. It is this simplicity, this absence of superfluous electronic frippery, that appeals to the rider seeking the essentials. The question of the Yamaha Tracer 7 GT's power is not one of a record number, but one of perfect everyday usability, on winding roads as well as in suburban areas.

The GT label is not a hollow term. Yamaha has built its reputation on serious travel packs. For this model, it consists of a wider and taller windscreen that does a remarkable job, a specific comfort seat, and, above all, the City pannier duo. With 20 liters each, they are perfect for a weekend getaway or a short trip, even if you won’t fit a full-face helmet. It's the standard equipment of the modern touring rider, the one who wants to be able to load their belongings without asking questions. The price of a new Yamaha Tracer 7 GT, around €10,300, is justified by this included equipment, avoiding the need to search for Yamaha Tracer 7 GT accessories after purchase.
The recent update has brought welcome refinements. The arrival of a 5-inch connected TFT screen, compatible with the MyRide application, finally brings the machine out of the last century. Added to this are tank protectors, a USB port, and pre-wiring for an optional quickshifter. The front brake discs have also gained in diameter, increasing to 298 mm, for braking power more in line with the sporty capabilities of the chassis. These evolutions, visible on the Yamaha Tracer 7 GT 2024, prove that the range remains vibrant and attentive to user feedback.

Facing the competition, like some European A2 trails sometimes more loaded with gadgets, the Tracer 7 GT plays the card of mechanical honesty. Its engine is a legend, its chassis inspires confidence, and its travel equipment is immediately operational. It does not claim to be the fastest, with a top speed flirting with 190 km/h, nor the most luxurious. It is first and foremost a reliable road companion, economical with consumption often below 4.5L/100km, and incredibly playful. It is the perfect motorcycle for the neo-touring rider who wants to discover travel without complexity, or for the expert who seeks pure sensations without the unnecessary.

So, is it the best in its category? On paper, technically speaking, perhaps not. But once on the road, when its twin rumbles at the exhaust and its light handlebars trace the curve effortlessly, you understand its success. It is not sold with promises of assisted riding, but with the guarantee of pleasure with every acceleration. For those seeking a versatile machine, equipped from the factory and with an authentic character, the answer is often there, written in blue on the tank.
