Overview
Two wheels, one engine, one handlebar... and clods of dirt stuck in the spokes or a few grains of sand in the belly pan. That’s the realization the Triumph Tiger 900 Desert Edition wants to arrive at.
Tiger models have always wanted to show that the setting sun on their fairings is much brighter beyond borders. This is the moment for English trail bikes to assert their desires a little more, and they do so through four special series with evocative names.
The most attentive candidate at the manufacturer presents itself under the Rally Pro label. It is she who serves as the basis for declining the Desert version. From there, three workshops set to work:
400 dollars more compared to the Rally Pro for this Desert pack, it’s very reasonable. The final bill is much less so. Almost 18K for a 900 trail bike, it's a budget that requires reflection.
However, it’s not just a machine for going to the market. It’s high-end, with beautiful peripherals, leading-edge versatility, seats and heated grips, confirmed off-road capabilities, and a very pleasant engine. 108 horsepower and 90 Nm are at the pilot’s disposal, as well as a large dose of electronics. ABS cornering, traction control, a 7-inch connected screen, 6 Riding Modes, cruise control, quickshifter and more. Yet, facing the trails and the rhinos, you’re going to have more sympathy for the 21”/17” spoked rims and the 240/230 mm of Showa suspension travel.
If you’re looking for something bigger, more powerful... and heavier, the 1200 Tiger is also available in Desert Edition.
