Overview
The Triumph Thruxton 400: is it the modern workhorse that redefines the entry-level segment? With its 398 cc single-cylinder engine, this machine exudes a well-defined character, far from sanitized clichés. The engine, producing 42 horsepower at 9000 rpm and 37.5 Nm of torque, does not seek technical extravagance but raw efficiency. On the road, this translates to a frank propulsion from the middle of the rev range, ideal for urban rides or winding getaways. The top speed of the Triumph Thruxton 400 is around 160 km/h, a more than respectable limit for this segment, allowing it to hold its own on national roads without being out of breath.

Its chassis, with a steel tubular frame and 43 mm inverted forks, clearly announces its intentions: here, feeling is prioritized over excessive sophistication. A weight of 183 kg when fully fueled gives it immediate agility, almost intuitive, which will appeal to both the novice looking for their first real machine and the veteran seeking playful simplicity. The 795 mm seat offers wide accessibility, even if the café racer style imposes a slightly committed riding position, a typical compromise of the genre.
Compared to its rivals, such as the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 or the Honda CB300R, the Thruxton 400 plays its card on authenticity and image. It does not have the Indian's temperamental twin-cylinder engine nor the Japanese ultra-efficiency, but it brings a balance and finish that smells of British heritage. Bybre brakes, with a 300 mm radial disc at the front, offer good bite, even if purists would have preferred Brembo calipers on a motorcycle with such a defined positioning.

Who is this Triumph for? Essentially for those who want to embody the café racer style without breaking the bank or encumbering themselves with complex mechanics. It is a motorcycle with character, perfect for the city and small roads, where its available torque and manageable size shine. The question of the price of the Triumph Thruxton 400 remains pending, but if the brand maintains a reasonable access policy, it could well create a real springboard to its higher models. Moreover, in the future, the used market for the Triumph Thruxton 400 should be dynamic, attracting riders wishing to experience the Triumph spirit without committing a new budget.

Ultimately, this machine is not a revolution, but an intelligent evolution. It captures the essence of the café racer with modern and reliable mechanics, while offering a consistent technical platform. We will forgive it a few concessions, such as the somewhat tight 13-liter fuel tank for long journeys, because it excels in its primary role: to make every journey, even the most mundane, full of style and direct sensations. An honest and charming proposition in an increasingly standardized world.
