Overview
Following Steve McQueen, Triumph has found a new icon in the persona of Bond. James Bond. A global icon and a sure thing for conveying an image of elegance, prestige…and a bit of revelry as well.
The most powerful café racer is now part of Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Forget Aston Martin, beautiful women, and interplanetary plots. The entire history of Bond is etched onto the skin of this Speed Triple 1200 RR.
Yet, its attire would serve Spectre better than MI6. It features a dark grey paint scheme, separated by a hand-painted gold stripe. The headstock plays the intro by drawing the inside of a pistol barrel; Subtle. An embedded badge on the upper clamp allows the rider to check their machine’s serial number; Exclusivity. But the essence of the tribute is placed on the fuel tank; Celebrity.
Partially on its flanks, with the official 007 logo, absorbed into a large 60. That’s not what interests us. But this: its back is tattooed with the title logos of all the films in the saga. From “James Bond 007 against Dr No” to “No Time to Die,” including “Skyfall,” “GoldenEye,” “The Man with the Golden Gun,” or “Goldfinger” – they’re all there! 25 distinct calligraphies, 6 different actors, for a single hero. The motorcycle will be delivered with a 007 branded graphic cover as well as a certificate of authenticity signed by Triumph boss Nick Bloor.
These little touches demand a price increase of over 9000. The James Bond argument is good for a simply scandalous price. The equivalent of a 660 Trident against two cans of paint and a couple of dozen stickers…….. Everyone will form their own opinion. The technical and mechanical specifications are identical to the standard Speed RR, with its large 180 horsepower 3-cylinder engine, Smart EC 2.0 Öhlins pilot-adjustable suspension, formidable chassis, Brembo Stylema brakes, and corresponding electronics (color TFT screen, IMU, ABS cornering, traction control, five Riding Modes, Up&Down shifter, keyless entry system, cruise control, Bluetooth and GoPro connectivity).
The 1200 Speed Triple RR joins the collection of models bearing the favors of the British secret agent. For the release of the 25th film, a Scrambler 1200 and a 900 Tiger were declined in special Bond series. This time, it’s the entire filmography that is honored. But for very few people. Of the 60 units marketed worldwide, 10 are planned for France. They have all been sold… Before even being presented!
