Overview
We often talk about metal muscles, but this is something else entirely. Imagine rather a power plant mounted on two wheels, a generator of dumb smiles and pure vertigo. The Triumph Rocket 3 Storm GT is not a motorcycle, it's a rolling statement of intent, a challenge thrown down to physics and common sense. With its 320 kilograms ready to ride, you’d expect a barge. And then you open the throttle.

The heart of the matter is, of course, that 2.5-liter inline three-cylinder engine, a steam factory producing 182 horsepower and, above all, a torque of 225 Nm. Look elsewhere in the motorcycle world, you won't find anything more massive, except perhaps by fitting a small Chevrolet V8 into a custom frame. This value is simply colossal. The magic happens from 4000 rpm, transforming each highway insertion into a discreet expulsion from spacetime. The Storm version has gained 15 horsepower over the previous one, but it is mainly this wave of force, available everywhere, that marks the mind and sticks the rider to the seat.
Speaking of position, the GT version, with its closer handlebars and soft saddlebags, clearly aims for grand touring. It's the most comfortable custom in the range, and that's saying something. The small screen, the sissy bar and the better-shaped passenger seat make it a credible road machine, despite its 18-liter tank which regularly reminds you of its presence. We are far from the ultra-deported posture of the roadster, here we adopt a more classic, almost reasonable attitude. In appearance only.
Because the chassis lives up to the monster it has to channel. Brembo Stylema brakes, worthy of a hypersportive, with their 320 mm discs at the front, inspire a salutary confidence. The aluminum frame and 47 mm inverted fork manage the weight with surprising agility, aided by lighter rims. Don't be fooled, you won't weave through traffic jams, but the beast is much less cumbersome than its dimensions suggest. The electronics are complete, with lean-sensitive ABS, traction control, cruise control and riding modes. Enough to tame the lightning.
Ultimately, who is it for? Not for beginners, that's obvious. It's the mount of the epicurean who has already ridden everything, who seeks the ultimate sensation, the torque that twists your arms and makes you laugh uncontrollably. At a price approaching 27,000 euros, it is an object of passion, irrational and magnetic. Faced with more traditional American cruisers, it brings mechanical madness and unique versatility. The Triumph Rocket 3 Storm GT doesn't need to justify itself. It simply asserts itself as the embodiment of excess on two wheels.
