Overview
So, you wonder why Suzuki persists? In 2015, when all other 450cc motocross bikes are playing the modernity card with a magic button, the RM-Z450, on the other hand, still asks you to give a good kick. Yes, you read that right: the Suzuki RM-Z450 is the only 450cc motocross bike not equipped as standard with an electric starter. In the high-end world, this is a bold, almost archaic gamble. Yet, at €8,299, this Japanese bike has not been idle. It arrives with an impressive technical baggage, directly drawn from the factories of Clément Desalle or James Stewart.

The highlight is its S-HAC system, an intelligent launch assist. Two modes: one for slippery terrain that smooths the ignition to prevent slippage, the other for infernal grips that advances the ignition to eject you like a bullet. After a few seconds or a gear change, the system retracts. It's clever, very clever, and it smells of track experience feedback. The other major novelty is the Showa SFF-AIR fork. Mechanical springs are a thing of the past, make way for pressurized air. Announced weight saving, 1.1 kg less on the front, and simplified settings via three valves. A real progress for the rider who wants to adjust his bike without breaking the bank on spring kits.
But a motocross bike is a whole. Suzuki has also reworked the frame to gain rigidity and lightness, revised the cooling system and refined the gearbox for sharper gear changes. With 60 horsepower housed in a 449 cm3 single-cylinder engine and a declared weight of 113 kg fully fueled, it has the shoulders to fight. The 325 mm ground clearance and the 1495 mm wheelbase promise an agile and voracious bike in tight corners.
So, for whom? Clearly not for the beginner. The absence of an electric starter and the lively temperament reserve it for a confirmed rider, who is looking for a sharp, direct machine, without frills. A pure and hard pistard who accepts to pay the price of raw performance, even if it means dancing on the kick. Faced with a KX450F or a CRF450R more modernized in terms of ergonomics, the Suzuki plays the card of mechanical purity. It is the weapon of the expert, not the bike of the apprentice. If you are wondering what the price of the Suzuki RM-Z450 2025 is, know that this philosophy, it, does not really have a price.
