Overview
Who would have bet on the peregrine falcon’s return? As interstellar cruisers seemed destined for extinction, Suzuki brought back its legend, this new 2023 Suzuki Hayabusa, to defend a genre that many believed was moribund. Not a revolution, but a reincarnation. The bird has molted, but its DNA remains indelible. The profile resembling a high-speed train, the prominent nose, and the bodywork that appears carved from solid material to slice through the air are immediately recognizable. The silhouette is more taut, less biological, but the intention is clear: this motorcycle is a highway weapon.

Under the hood, the famous 1340 cm³ inline four-cylinder engine has undergone a deep facelift. The surprise? It now delivers 190 horsepower, seven less than the previous generation. A sacrilege for a pure speed icon? Not really. Suzuki prioritized low- and mid-range filling, offering 150 Nm of torque available earlier. The objective is obvious: monstrous acceleration and locomotive flexibility, more useful on the road than a stratospheric power peak. Coupled with a six-speed gearbox and an assist clutch, this engine remains a marvel of brutal progressiveness. For those seeking frenzy, there are still preparations, even a turbo Suzuki Hayabusa, but here, the approach is more mature.
The chassis, for its part, has not changed philosophy. A perimeter aluminum frame, fully adjustable KYB suspension, and top-of-the-line Brembo Stylema braking with 320 mm discs. The weight? 264 kg fully fueled. It’s not a lightweight, and it fully embraces its status as a land liner. Maneuverability has been slightly improved, with set-back handlebars for a more relaxed riding position, but don’t expect to play stunt rider. The Suzuki Hayabusa excels in its straight line: high-speed stability, long-distance comfort, and that sovereign impression of crushing the horizon.
The major novelty is the massive arrival of electronics. The spartan era is over. The new Hayabusa features an inertial measurement unit, traction control and wheelie control with 10 levels, an anti-stoppie, launch control, cruise control, and even a programmable speed limiter. The dashboard skillfully mixes analog gauges for the soul and a TFT screen to manage this plethora of aids. It’s a necessary concession for our time, which makes the beast safer and more versatile without castrating it.
So, who is it for? Certainly not a beginner. It’s the mount of the demanding globetrotter who wants to devour continents, the speed aesthete who collects icons, or the one who is looking for a GT sportbike with a unique character. At €19,199, the new price of the 2023 Suzuki Hayabusa is high, but you are buying a piece of living history. Facing more radical competitors like the Ninja H2, it plays the card of quiet grandeur and pure sensory experience. It may no longer be the fastest at top speed, limited to 299 km/h, but it remains the undisputed queen of supersonic touring. Finding a used Suzuki Hayabusa can be a good deal, but owning the latest evolution is offering yourself a myth that has finally learned to civilize itself, without denying its predatory nature.
