Overview
Remember that feeling, twenty years ago, when this name arrived and redefined the very notion of speed. The Suzuki Hayabusa wasn’t a motorcycle; it was a statement. A 1299 cm3 engine that sent all the gauges into the red and secured its status as a myth. But time passes, and young wolves like the Kawasaki ZZR 1400 came to nibble at its territory. So, when Suzuki released the new version, many scrutinized its lines, wondering if the falcon still had its talons.

First impression: evolution, not revolution. Suzuki intelligently preserved the iconic silhouette of the Hayabusa, that long, organic shape born in 1999, while refining it with tighter curves and a sharper rear. It’s less brutal, more sophisticated. We are far from the aesthetic shock of the origins, but the beast is still immediately recognizable. The real change, the seismic shift, is hidden beneath the fairing. The inline four, boosted to 1340 cm3, is a formidable torque factory. With 198 horsepower at 8500 rpm and, above all, 152 Nm from 4000 rpm, it literally crushes the road. Comparison with more nervous hypersport bikes is irrelevant here: you don't ride this engine, you mount it, you are carried away by a tsunami of propulsion that seems endless. The engine of the new Suzuki Hayabusa is its absolute argument, a demonstration of quiet force that brings a smile even at low rpm.
With such power, a frame to match was needed. The more rigid aluminum twin-spar frame handles it all without flinching. The announced weight, 260 kg fully fueled, is forgotten once in motion, the machine revealing an aircraft carrier-like stability, especially at speeds where others become nervous. The braking, with its double front discs, is powerful and progressive. It is a motorcycle designed to swallow continents in one go, in relative comfort for the category, although the position remains committed. It doesn’t have the surgical agility of a GSX-R 1000 on the track, but that’s not its role. Its domain is the highway to the ends of the earth, where the horizon is straight and the desire to open the throttle is irresistible.
So, who buys a Suzuki Hayabusa today? Not the Sunday track rider, nor the adventurer. It’s the machine for the pure enthusiast, the one who vibrates for raw engineering and a timeless symbol. At 15,000 euros new, it’s a significant investment, which explains the flourishing market for used Suzuki Hayabusa models, where you can find 2020 or 2021 models at more affordable prices. Whether you’re targeting a 1999 Suzuki Hayabusa for the myth or a 2023 Suzuki Hayabusa for the technology, the essence remains the same. It’s a unique experience, a monument on two wheels. Some even add a turbo for extreme sensations, but the original engine really doesn’t need that. It no longer seeks to be the fastest in maximum speed, a title that is now futile. It is much more: a legend that rolls, still as fascinating to ride.
