Overview

Suzuki is experiencing one of its best seasons in Grand Prix racing. Arguably, the most successful one. This performance, along with the celebrations for the 100th anniversary, gives birth to a GSX-R 1000 R adorned with the same color scheme as the MotoGP prototype.

This limited series is selling like wildfire. Initially marketed in Japan during spring 2020, it was gradually offered in the main European countries to finally arrive in France for the 2021 model year.

An electric blue captures the silver grey that extends from the fender to the rear. Colors that Alex Rins mounted on the top step of the podium at the Aragon GP. A symbol of victory but also a rallying cry: the GSX-R 1000 R '21 will only be available in this color scheme. And in only 70 copies. As this Suzuki does not meet Euro5 standards, exemptions for its distribution are becoming very limited.

We would have liked a carbon exhaust like the Italian version, or a seat cowl, or the signatures of the official riders to give that little extra touch. You will have to 'settle' for a hypersport whose name resonates like a devourer of competition and performance. Its 202 horsepower engine still seriously loads and thrills the rider. Its variable intake system gives it a thunderous punch in the high RPM range.

As an R, it features better suspension with, in particular, an external cartridge inverted fork. Its electronic assists are in line with the industry average, with adjustable traction control on 10 levels, an inertial measurement unit, cornering ABS, an Up&Down shifter, an anti-stallie, a launch control system, 3 Riding Modes, a Low RPM assist and an Easy Start System to facilitate starting.

The GSX-R 1000 closes here a 20-year chapter. The saga began very simply: with total domination of the category.
