Overview
Ten units. That is the confidential production run chosen for this Katana Royal Serie, a special edition built around an already well-known foundation: the 999 cc inline four-cylinder, 150 horsepower at 10,000 rpm, 105.9 Nm at 9,500 rpm, all housed in an aluminum perimeter frame. The mechanical recipe does not change by a single millimeter. The difference is made elsewhere.

Suzuki France entrusted the work to Lucky Cat Garage, a workshop run by Sébastien Lorentz and Olivier Faudière. The brief seemed clear: enhance the neo-retro silhouette without falling into excess. The result is a build that bets on material quality rather than the volume of modifications. The high clip-ons, the adjustable rear-set controls, and the steering stem nut are CNC-machined from billet. Carbon fiber takes care of the rear cowl, the fender, the chain guard, and the wheel arch. The seat receives Alcantara, a material considerably more honest than the faux leather often served up as premium finishing. The fasteners — a telling detail of a builder's standard — mix aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium, supplied by ProBolt.
The roster of component manufacturers present gives a sense of the budget involved. Rizoma signs the bar-end weights, the Lunar mirrors, the master cylinder cover, and the Vision LED turn signals. Renthal supplies the grips. Yoshimura contributes its R11-SQ Black Magic exhaust, which should allow the inline four to breathe more freely beyond 9,000 rpm. The front fender, with its slightly different shape, does not come from an aftermarket catalog: it originates from a GSX-S of the same family, a discreet but coherent adaptation.
The Bushido Grey finish with platinum-palladium reflections, applied by hand by Laurence Chatokhine, unifies the whole in a restraint that is rarely encountered on this type of build. Where many limited series seek to attract the eye through graphic overload or garish colors, this Katana plays the opposite card. It is a deliberate stance, consistent with a machine that weighs 215 kg and features an 825 mm seat height: a motorcycle tailored for the experienced rider who prefers substance over flash.
Yamaha has for years built its Yard Built machines with independent customizers, sometimes allowing fairly radical transformation latitude. Suzuki, with this Royal Serie, takes a more measured approach. That is not a criticism: it is a choice. The standard Katana retails for around €13,650; the additional €11,000 for this version brings the invoice to €24,650 for ten examples distributed exclusively through Olby Motos in Chartres or the Royal Vintage platform. At that price, you are paying for rarity, craftsmanship, and the coherence of the project. If the idea of a discreetly refined rather than loud Katana appeals to you, the spots are limited.
