Overview

Who is a motorcycle costing €70,000 really for? It’s no longer a question of transportation, nor even of simple performance. We enter the realm of mechanical artwork, of a two-wheeled statement of intent. The MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Oro, with its price approaching €69,500, is no exception. It’s not there to seduce the average motorcyclist, but to capture the gaze of those seeking the ultimate expression of a neo-retro style fused with hyper-sportive technology.

MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Oro

From the first glance, it asserts its character. It reprises the aesthetic codes of the smaller 800, but everything is exaggerated, muscular, almost menacing. The winglets are not mere decorations; MV Agusta proudly recalls its aerodynamic GP pioneers from the 1970s. Here, they generate substantial downforce, but their true role is to complete a spaceship silhouette, reinforced by massive air ducts and this rear fairing that wraps around a round optical unit. The showstopper remains these Arrow titanium exhausts, housed under the seat in a direct homage to the legendary F4. It’s provocative, sensual, and totally assumed.

Under this almost integral carbon fiber fairing – a signature of the Oro finish – beats a heart of fire. MV Agusta has taken the best of its catalog, the formidable 1000 Brutale’s four-cylinder engine. The figures are eloquent: 208 horsepower at 13,000 rpm, a torque of 116.7 Nm that must be sought high, at 11,000 rpm. This places the Superveloce 1000 Oro, on paper, above a Kawasaki ZX-10R or a Yamaha YZF-R1 in pure power. The optional race kit even pushes the meter to 212 horsepower. This is not an engine for the faint of heart; it demands high revs and rewards with a sonic and mechanical explosion.

The chassis is worthy of this engine. The steel trellis frame with its aluminum side plates is a direct inheritance from the Brutale, proven and refined. Öhlins electronic suspensions (Smart EC 2.0) manage the fork and shock absorber, leaving only preload to manual adjustment. The braking system, with its Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers and 320 mm discs dressed in carbon flanges, inspires absolute confidence. The forged rims, a subtle blend of spokes and branches, are an aesthetic detail that in themselves summarize the machine's philosophy: to combine classic allusion with the most modern technology.

So, who will buy this MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Oro? Certainly not a beginner. It’s the motorcycle of the collector, of the wealthy aesthete for whom a work of art must also be able to brush 186 mph. The riding position is not as radical as a pure circuit machine, the footrests are even adjustable for a little more comfort, but its temperament remains that of a hyper-sportive. The electronics are plentiful: 8-level traction control, wheelie control, cornering ABS, cruise control, and a whole suite of settings via the 5.5-inch TFT screen or the dedicated application.

MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Oro

With only 500 units produced, finding a used MV Agusta Superveloce 1000 Oro will be a battle. This rarity, coupled with this price, positions it in an almost empty segment. Faced with a Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR, more oriented towards the roadster, the MV Agusta is a much more extreme, more exclusive, and resolutely Italian proposition. It doesn’t seek to be the most versatile, but the most desirable. It is a culmination, an exclamation point in an already flamboyant catalog. For the very restricted public it targets, it is probably irresistible. For others, it will remain a motorized fantasy, admirable behind a display case.
