Overview
At what point does a motorcycle cease to be a simple vehicle and become a work of mechanical art in its own right? Asking the question is already having the answer when contemplating this MV Agusta Rush 1000. The firm from Varese does not manufacture modes of transport; it forges rolling manifestos, and this hyper-roadster is its most radical and expensive incarnation. With a price now approaching €50,000 for the 2024 model, it sets the bar well above that of its Italian counterparts, fully assuming its status as a motorized collector's item. This price, constantly increasing since the first edition of the Rush 1000 in 2020, is not just a matter of money; it's a ticket of entry into a very closed club, that of exceptional machines produced in only 300 copies.

Visually, it is an assumed aesthetic aggression. We are far from the sobriety of a Japanese motorcycle. This Rush is a Brutale 1000 that has made a pact with the devil, sporting a raised rear end worthy of a spaceship, hypnotic-patterned rims, and a front headlight populated with LEDs that seem straight out of the RVS #1. The decoration is a festival of noble details: leather and Alcantara on the seat, carbon fiber parts, CNC machined elements, integrated winglets. It is ostentatious, exuberant, and perfectly consistent with the spirit of the brand. It does not go unnoticed, and that is the whole point.
Under the tank adorned with its tattooed serpent beats a lion's heart. The inline four-cylinder engine of 998 cm3, inherited from the Brutale but refined, shouts its 208 horsepower at 13,000 rpm, promising a top speed exceeding 300 km/h. The engine has been refined to meet Euro 5 standards, with revised cams and DLC treatments to reduce friction. The electronics are plentiful, with four maps, eight-level traction control, a wheelie control, a cornering ABS of the latest generation, and even a GPS module. Electronic Öhlins suspensions and Brembo Stylema brakes constitute a chassis train worthy of a track machine dressed for the road.

So, who is this beast for? Certainly not for a novice, nor even for a globetrotter in search of comfort. The seat height of 845 mm and the aggressiveness of the riding position are intended for the experienced rider, the collector, the one who seeks the ultimate expression of a hyper-roadster without compromise. Compared to a Ducati Streetfighter V4 S or an Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory, the Rush 1000 is less a direct competitor than a high-end alternative, more exclusive and much more expensive. Its price, which cheerfully exceeds that of a BMW S 1000 R or a KTM 1290 Super Duke R, is justified by its limited production and its crazy equipment, including even a complete race kit (Arrow exhaust, racing ECU, CNC parts) delivered in a wooden chest.

Testing the MV Agusta Rush 1000 leaves an ambivalent impression. It is a machine of unprecedented violence and charisma, capable of eliciting a smile as wide as your bank statement after the purchase. But it is also demanding, extreme, and impractical. It does not have the versatility of a Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS nor the clinical efficiency of a Japanese motorcycle. It is a pure product of desire, a motorized sculpture that can afford the luxury of irrationality. Is it the best motorcycle overall? No. Is it the most desirable in its category? Probably. And in the very particular world of MV Agusta, that is often what matters most.
