Overview
Motorcycle: MV Agusta Dragster RC SCS (2024)

When does a motorcycle cease to be a simple vehicle and become a collector's item, a declaration of pure passion? Ask MV Agusta, whose Reparto Corse department knows how to transform production models into rolling icons. The Dragster RC SCS 2024 embodies this alchemy, a machine that doesn't just ride, it performs and provokes. With only 300 numbered copies, it is aimed at the demanding collector, the track enthusiast seeking exclusivity, the one for whom the price, although severely set at 25,500 euros, is just a detail in the face of emotion.
This Dragster draws its rage from a reworked 798 cm3 three-cylinder engine, ready for the supplied racing kit. Once installed, the trio gains 10 horsepower, bringing the total to 150 hp at 12,800 rpm, while the torque of 87 Nm arrives high in the rev range. The most impressive feature is its dry weight of 160 kg, a power-to-weight ratio that is dizzying and places the machine in a category of its own compared to competitors such as the Ducati Streetfighter V4 or the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS, often heavier and less radical. The fully adjustable Marzocchi fork and Sachs shock absorber ensure handling, while the four-piston radial Brembo brakes offer track weapon braking.
The true technological signature lies in its SCS clutch, the Smart Clutch System. This system, from Rekluse, practically eliminates the use of the clutch lever for gear changes, without being an automatic transmission. Coupled with the bidirectional EAS 3.0 quickshifter, it allows for lightning-fast acceleration and gear downshifts without interruption, a real pleasure for the track or spirited acceleration. The MVICS 2.1 electronics are abundant: 8-level traction control, four riding modes, cruise control, cornering ABS braking, and even an adaptive headlight. Everything is there to tame the beast.
Yet, the Dragster RC SCS makes no concessions to comfort. The 845 mm seat is high and the riding position is committed, reserving its favors for experienced riders. The 16.5-liter tank recalls that this Italian is a pure sportbike, not a road bike. Forged wheels replace the standard version's beautiful spokes, a choice justified by the search for lightness and responsiveness, but which removes a little of its retro soul. Carbon fiber parts in the trim, such as the rear fender, emphasize the limited nature of the series, but one is sometimes left wanting more given the price requested.
Ultimately, the MV Agusta Dragster RC SCS is an irrational and fascinating proposition. It is not the most versatile, nor the most affordable, but it offers a unique sensory experience, a blend of cutting-edge technology and raw mechanical thrills. For its target audience, the enthusiast seeking the rare object and extreme performance, the price of the MV Agusta Dragster RC SCS is justified by the exclusivity and pure emotion it delivers. It is a motorcycle that does not speak to reason, but directly to the gut.
