Overview
How far gone does one have to be to shell out €23,300 for a motorcycle that, on paper, resembles a Dragster RR already well-equipped? MV Agusta responds with this Dragster RC SCS, a declaration of war on common sense. It’s not just a naked bike; it’s a mechanical manifesto where every gram is tracked, each horsepower a soldier. At the heart of it all is the 798 cc three-cylinder engine, a motor that knows no moderation. In standard version, it delivers 140 horsepower, but with the racing kit supplied in the trunk – SC Project exhaust and dedicated ECU – it reaches 150 hp at 12,300 rpm. Imagine this fury in a frame that weighs only 160 kg dry. The power-to-weight ratio becomes a pure weapon.

The difference, the real subject, lies in this SCS, the Smart Clutch System. Inspired by Rekluse, this system combines a centrifugal clutch and electronic management. You no longer use the left lever. It’s not a matter of talking about an automatic transmission, as you still operate the selector, but gear changes become instantaneous, starts explosive. This detail, weighing only 36 grams more, transforms the experience. It’s a radical approach to gain time and precision, especially when the 8-level traction control and bi-directional quickshifter EAS 3.0 are already part of the package. MV Agusta doesn’t do things halfway.
Compared to a KTM 890 Duke R or a Ducati Streetfighter V2, this Dragster RC SCS plays in a different league. It’s not only more powerful; it’s more exclusive, more theatrical. The 300 units guarantee this aura, with the Reparto Corse colors and carbon fiber parts that replace some plastic elements. We regret the RR’s spoked wheels, sacrificed for lighter and more responsive forged rims. But that’s the price of absolute performance. The Marzocchi and Sachs suspension, fully adjustable, and the radial Brembo brakes are there to channel this energy.
The audience for this machine? Absolutely not a beginner, nor even a relaxed touring rider. It’s the weapon of the purebred track rider, or the urban dweller who wants to turn every ride into a performance. With a 16.5-liter tank and consumption around 6 liters per 100 km, long journeys are not its destiny. Its role is to shine, to provoke, to demonstrate that mechanics can be a violent art. The MV Agusta Dragster RC SCS price is exorbitant, but it buys an emotion that few competitors offer. An emotion where technology serves passion, without compromise.
