Overview

The RC series, standing for Reparto Corse, has become an institution within the MV-Agusta lineup over the years. The original F4 was the first to embrace this designation, becoming an icon of Superbike racing; other models have followed suit to emphasize the sporty character and appeal to the owner.

The Dragster 800 RC, as is customary, adopts the colors of the competition department. The paint scheme has returned to the colors of Italy, enhanced by a SC Project silencer thanks to the racing kit. The welding work on the intermediate tube is simply superb, worthy of the finest achievements of the 2-stroke era. Between the transalpine colors and the scent of battle, MV-Agusta no longer displays the "37" that symbolizes the brand—its number of world championship titles. A figure that hasn't changed since 1974.

This devil is equipped with the SCS – "Smart Clutch System" clutch. A mechanism provided by Rekluse to approach the feel of a semi-automatic gearbox. Basically, it's the combination of a centrifugal clutch coupled with electronic management to eliminate the need to use the clutch lever. This allows for faster gear changes, lightning-fast starts, and adds only 36 grams of weight. Let's not confuse this with an automatic or robotized gearbox. To change gears, it's not done automatically; you still need to use your foot and the gear selector.

A few special parts, a racing livery, and here we are in the atmosphere. This special series is built on the base of the 800 Dragster RR SCS. That is, the most aggressive version of the Dragster with a 3-cylinder engine that spits out 140 horsepower. These horses don't want to stay calm, and are waiting for their friends. The racing kit supplied with the motorcycle allows, once installed, to gain 8 kilos and increase power by 10 horsepower. At its best, it displays the astonishing ratio of 150 horsepower for 160 kilos! This package consists of the right exhaust, a dedicated ECU, as well as machined aluminum footrests and controls.

To mark this special series, the manufacturer adorns it with a few carbon fiber parts, such as the front fender supports, the rear fender, and the trim pieces at the base of the tank. A pity that the superb spoked wheels of the standard version are lost, replaced by forged rims. For a good reason: a weight saving and less inertia when changing angle. The Marzocchi fork with TiN treatment is fully adjustable, the Sachs shock absorber as well. For the seat, a bi-texture saddle combines leather and topstitching.

Like the RR, the Dragster 800 RC is loaded with electronics with MVICS 2.1 management. It includes Ride-By-Wire, 8-level traction control, 4 riding modes working with engine management, traction control, throttle sensitivity, engine braking, torque curve, etc... Three are pre-programmed according to specific profiles (Sport, Normal, Rain) and one is completely customizable by the user. The EAS 3.0 Quickshifter allows you to upshift and downshift without throttle interruption. The machine is also equipped with cruise control, an inertial unit, an adaptive cornering headlight, cornering ABS, a connected TFT screen with GPS and Bluetooth system, a Mobisat satellite tracker, and Launch Control. Sporty, the frame still relies on a trellis steel tube frame connected to beautiful aluminum plates (optimized for rigidity), Brembo radial 4-piston brakes around 320 mm discs, a rear end trimmed to the limit, and a large 200 m rear tire.

MV-Agusta has ennobled three models in RC, where this 800 Dragster RR SCS aggressively takes its place. To emphasize the exclusivity of the model, it will be manufactured in a limited number of copies - 300 round, number certified on the fork leg and by a certificate of authenticity. For a re-indexed and difficult-to-justify price. But with an MV, we don't care much - it's the passion that speaks.
