Overview
When you read "Hydrogen" attached to a motorcycle, you immediately picture a futuristic prototype running on fuel cells. Had MV Agusta leapfrogged the entire industry by a decade back in 2008? Not exactly. Behind this enticing name actually lies a collaboration with Hydrogen, an Italian high-end sportswear brand. The Varese four-cylinder therefore runs on nothing but unleaded fuel, and that's already more than enough to set the senses ablaze.

Because the mechanical foundation is well known, and it needs no marketing gimmick to impress. The 909 cc inline four-cylinder produces 136 horsepower at 11,000 rpm and 96 Nm of torque available from just 7,900 rpm. With a 13:1 compression ratio and ultra-short bore and stroke dimensions of 76 x 50.1 mm, this engine loves to rev and makes it known with a furious exhaust note that only MV Agusta knows how to produce. All of this propels the machine to a top speed of 262 km/h, a figure that places the Brutale 910 R among the fastest naked bikes of its era, squaring off against the Kawasaki Z1000 and the Aprilia Tuono among others. The chrome-molybdenum steel trellis frame provides surgical rigidity, while the 50 mm inverted fork and rear monoshock deliver precise handling without sacrificing comfort. At 185 kg dry, it remains relatively contained for an Italian four-cylinder of this displacement.
The braking system doesn't do things by halves either: two 320 mm discs gripped by four-piston radial calipers up front, and a 210 mm disc at the rear. More than enough to reassure riders who will genuinely exploit the full potential of this spirited roadster. The 120/70-17 and 190/55-17 tires confirm the machine's sporty temperament, with a rear tire wide enough to handle the output of the Lombardy four-pot.
So what does this Hydrogen version actually bring compared to the standard Brutale 910 R? Let's be honest: nothing on the technical front. Absolutely nothing. Not a single extra horsepower, no revised suspension settings, no specific components. The operation is limited to a white, red, and black livery designed by the partner fashion brand and a limited run of 100 units. That's slim justification for the attention, but such is the game of lifestyle-driven special editions — an exercise at which Italian manufacturers have always excelled. The price remains set at 18,390 euros, identical to the standard version, which at least avoids the feeling of paying a premium for a mere paint change.
This Brutale 910 R Hydrogen is aimed first and foremost at collectors and devotees of the Schiranna brand who want a slightly different specimen in their garage. For the rider seeking a radical and temperamental naked bike, the standard version does exactly the same job. Yet one glance at this exclusive dress is enough to understand why MV Agusta captivates lovers of fine machinery and aesthetes alike: even when the firm changes nothing but the paint, the result looks stunning.
