Overview

Access to the “Chrome” collection begins with the 900 Speed Twin (formerly known as the Street Twin). Among the 10 models in this limited-edition series, the most modest neo-classic is also the one that embraces it the most. The red doesn’t highlight the cheeks but the fuel tank.

One doesn’t summarize a motorcycle by its fuel tank; but one can for the Triumph lineup. Because here, everything revolves around this element. Despite the name, this machine is entitled to only a few square decimeters of chrome – to simulate knee grips. All around, it’s conquered territory for the Red Hopper paint.

Dennis is not to blame. With this decoration, the 900 gains appeal. A real teenager facing the bland colors of the standard Speed Twin. The painter’s job is not as obvious as on more upscale “Chrome” models but he will still have spent a few hours with the brush and the polisher; all by hand.

Caustic detail: the modest Speed Twin is part of this ephemeral (2023 only) and classy collection… while the larger 1200 must do without this expression. It was already not invited to the “Gold Line” series. There will be grumbling at the table.

But once the appearance is set aside, the Speed Twin 900 Chrome cannot look down on the standard version. They are identical, right down to the last bolt. No accessories as a gift (but specific ones are optional) nor any secret hidden after the brush. It is with the good humor of its 65 horsepower parallel-twin that the machine will show off its face. Its rejuvenated Bonneville look is accompanied by modern solutions such as riding Modes (Rain or Road), traction control, ABS, a USB port under the seat, an assist clutch; and a popularity envied within the brand.

To enjoy it, two conditions: do not wait until 2024 to order it, and provide a small addition of 350 euros.
