Overview
Who at KTM decided that a 180-horsepower roadster wasn't enough? The answer comes down to three digits: 1390. The Austrian V-twin jumps from 1290 to 1350 cc, gains an extra ten horsepower to peak at 190 hp at 10,000 rpm, and torque climbs to 145 Nm from just 8,000 rpm. On paper, the 2026 Superduke 1390 R EVO looks like a direct provocation aimed at the entire competition, with the Ducati Streetfighter V4 first in line. In practice, it's a hyper-roadster that fully embraces its purpose as a radical machine, built for riders who feel a Tuono V4 lacks character. What is the top speed of the 2026 KTM Superduke 1390 R EVO? The speedometer stops at 290 km/h. Suffice to say the legal speed limiter is the only thing standing between this bike and the sound barrier.

The EVO suffix at KTM doesn't denote a mere cosmetic evolution. It signals the presence of third-generation WP semi-active suspension, identifiable by the distinctive blue rings above the dust seals. The 48 mm inverted fork and rear shock feature magnetic valves controlled by a dedicated ECU. Five base modes, from Auto to Sport, adjust damping in real time based on road conditions and riding style. The improvement doesn't stop at electronics: this new generation is also 750 grams lighter on the fork, and both compression and rebound settings remain accessible from the dashboard. For the most demanding riders, the optional Suspension Pro pack unlocks two additional modes, Track and Pro, along with an anti-dive braking system and a MotoGP-inspired launch device that lowers the rear of the machine to maximize traction.
The move to the 1390 generation isn't limited to the engine. KTM has revised the intake, enlarged the tank to 17.5 liters to extend fuel stops, added winglets on either side of the radiator, and reworked the fifth and sixth ratios of the six-speed gearbox. The brake and clutch master cylinders now benefit from automatic bleeding, the dashboard has been redesigned, and the stock tires switch to Michelin Power GP. The steel trellis frame has also undergone slight modifications. On the braking front, you'll find the twin 320 mm Brembo radially-mounted discs with four-piston calipers up front, paired with a 240 mm disc at the rear. Stylema calipers complete the setup, carried over directly from the 1290.

Then there's the touchy subject: weight. At 201 kg wet, the Superduke 1390 R EVO has put on some bulk compared to its predecessor. For a machine that positions itself as the power-to-weight queen of the roadster category, it's a paradox. You could argue that 190 horsepower and a ratio of under 1.06 kg per horsepower more than compensate, and that's true in terms of pure performance. But on a twisty road, every extra kilo makes itself felt through direction changes. The price follows the same upward trajectory: 22,749 euros, which puts this KTM in direct competition with the Streetfighter V4 S and well above a Tuono V4 Factory.
This Superduke 1390 R EVO is aimed at a very specific audience: experienced riders, comfortable with the raw power of a big twin, who want a machine as formidable on the open road as it is on track. Beginners need not apply, and that's just as well. KTM delivers here an extreme riding tool, packed with technology and character, that demands a steady hand and nerves of steel. The 75-degree V-twin has a personality that inline fours will never replicate. That's precisely what makes this bike as captivating as it is intimidating.
