Overview
When we talk about a two-wheeled missile dressed as a GT, only one machine immediately comes to mind for purists: the Kawasaki ZZR 1400. But what remains to be added to an already overpowered legend? For the Performance Sport version, the green manufacturer chose the path of high-end original equipment, a winning tactic for those who want the best without going through the aftermarket. With its 202 horsepower and a pantagruelic torque of 162.5 Nm, the 1441 cm³ beast didn't need more muscle, but a little more refinement.

That's exactly what the Öhlins TTX rear shock, fitted as standard, delivers. This piece of technology, with its remote preload adjuster and ultra-fine compression and rebound settings, transforms the monster. It’s no longer just about crushing the horizon in a straight line, but about giving the rear end a true soul, offering a feeling and handling that fully justifies the price of this special version. Combined with the already very complete 43 mm inverted fork, it makes this GT a more versatile motorcycle than one might imagine, capable of devouring long stretches of road with remarkable suspension comfort.
The other signature of this Performance Sport is its titanium Akrapovic silencers. Beyond the weight saved and the more raw sound that flatters the ear, they are the symbol of a motorcycle ready for the track or winding roads, straight from the dealership. The rest of the equipment follows the same logic: tall screen, new seat cover, and black-backed meters with the famous 'Flying K'. With a seat height of 800 mm, the riding position remains accessible for a sporty motorcycle of this size, even if the 268 kg fully fueled are felt when stationary. The 22-liter tank, for its part, promises beautiful ranges between refills.
Facing competitors like the Suzuki Hayabusa or the BMW S 1000 XR, the Kawasaki ZZR 1400 Performance Sport fully assumes its role as a super-GT with excessive power. It’s clearly not the most agile, but it offers a blend of brutality and technical refinement that makes it unique. At nearly 19,000 euros, it is aimed at the demanding touring rider who wants the quintessence of grand touring speed, without compromise. It's the ultimate weapon for those who consider that the journey is as important as the destination, especially when the speedometer approaches three-digit numbers. For those looking for accessories like a pre-painted upper fairing, know that you are already starting with an extremely well-equipped base.
