Overview
The 2001 Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide T-Sport is an interesting proposition within the American manufacturer’s catalog. It presents itself as an evolution of the standard Dyna Super Glide Sport, with a clearly travel-oriented ambition. The recipe is simple and effective: an adjustable windscreen is grafted onto the dashboard via a small dial, the seat is replaced for better comfort and a more natural riding position, and two removable and waterproof soft saddlebags are added. The package is coherent and transforms this machine, initially very pleasant in the city and on secondary roads, into a motorcycle capable of accompanying you on long distances without sacrificing its character.

At the heart of this transformation lies the famous Twin Cam 88B, a 1449 cc V-twin engine. It delivers 68 horsepower at 5400 rpm and a torque of 105.9 Nm from 2900 rpm. These figures translate a philosophy: power is there, but it is served with a generosity and progressiveness typical of Harley-Davidson. The engine responds without haste but with authority, offering sensations rather than explosive performance. It connects the touring soul of the T-Sport to the driving pleasure that defines the Dyna. The belt drive and five-speed gearbox complete this robust and characteristic mechanical picture.
The chassis, with its steel double cradle frame and adjustable suspension, is homogeneous. It allows for a winding and stable ride, ideal for enjoying long stretches of road. However, with a dry weight of 310 kg, it is not suited to nervous or sporty riding. The “Sport” designation here is more American than Japanese; it speaks of attitude, not extreme agility. The braking, ensured by two 292 mm discs pinched by four-piston calipers, is sufficient and progressive, in line with the motorcycle’s overall temperament. The seat height of 708 mm and the classic-sized tires (100/90-19 at the front, 150/80-16 at the rear) confirm this accessible and comfortable approach.
This travel package does not mask some minor defects inherent to the model. The side stand can be impractical, some elements like the gauges are moderately readable, and the turn signals may interfere with the opening of the saddlebags. But these points are secondary to the character it distills. The Dyna Super Glide T-Sport clearly targets the Harley touring rider, the one who wants to be able to leave for a long weekend without compromising style and the specific feel of the brand. It is an alternative to the Road King or Electra Glide for those seeking a less imposing machine, lighter in spirit, but equally capable on long distances. At a price of 16785 euros, it positions itself as an integrated and coherent travel option within the Dyna range, faithful to the spirit of the house.
