Overview
We often hear about touring machines, but how many are truly designed to devour asphalt by the thousands without a hint of fatigue? In 2010, Harley-Davidson set the bar very high with the Electra Glide Ultra Limited, a declaration of war on the kilometer, decked out in chrome and technology. This is not a simple evolution; it is the new benchmark in the Touring family, a flagship that deliberately positions itself between the Ultra Classic and the oversized CVO models.

At the heart of the beast is the Twin Cam 103 with a displacement of 1690 cm3, a V-twin engine that delivers monstrous torque of 133 Nm at 3500 rpm. On paper, the 81 horsepower may make a track rider smile, but on the road, it is this wave of traction from the moment you open the throttle that gives meaning to the journey. The transmission has been refined, with a quieter sixth gear, and the chassis absorbs some of the vibrations to preserve comfort. However, even with a reworked exhaust line to limit heat, you can feel the presence of the large V-twin; it is its soul and its character.
Where this Ultra Limited truly crushes the competition is in its standard equipment. Harley has simply integrated the entire options catalog. ABS, heated grips, cruise control, the 12V outlet, and especially the Harman-Kardon audio system become standard. The redesigned Tour-Pak saddlebags are veritable trunks, practical and waterproof. At this price, around €29,000, it is normal to have nothing to add. We are far from spartan European roadsters; here, luxury and functionality are the law.

Faced with a Gold Wing, more aseptic and technological, or a BMW K 1600 GT, more agile and responsive, the Harley stays on its own ground. It relies entirely on the experience, the aura, and this uninhibited comfort. Its weight of 413 kg at full capacity is forgotten once it’s launched, but maneuvering in the parking lot remains an exercise in strength. It is a motorcycle for the pure globetrotter, the one who prioritizes presence, timeless style, and the sensation of piloting a piece of America on all roads around the world. It does not aim for pure performance, but for absolute mastery of the art of travel.
