Overview

"We start by stripping the bike down to its bare bones, then we rebuild it." This sentence from Kirk Rasmussen, Harley’s style director, reveals how much this new Breakout wants to make a mark and ignite the passion of enthusiasts. Very long, superbly equipped, sparkling and provocative, this Softail is close to a work of art. Indeed, having passed through the workshops of Custom Vehicle Operations, the Breakout could only be filled with pride to show off in all its splendor.

It exudes power and style. It has muscle, and it doesn’t hesitate to show it. Behind the Heavy Breather Performance air filter horn lies the largest H-D engine currently available, the 1803 cm3 Screamin' Eagle twin. This is the 110B version, that is to say equipped with balance shafts, which will move these 317 kilograms of steel and character. Around it and its brilliance, there’s plenty of chrome and a selection of beautiful parts. You’re inclined to believe that each example is unique, straight out of a custom shop. Ultra-short fenders, very reduced instrumentation, a seat featuring tribal motifs: the Breakout is lean like an athlete. The Turbine wheels are formidable. Its front wheel seems immense, thanks to the 21 very thin wheel spokes. The rear is just as intimidating with its monstrous 240 mm tire. The wide front end is fitted with a mini-headlight fairing and a cast aluminum chrome oil reservoir.

A true hot-rod for hard riders, the CVO Breakout is as vindictive as the late RRocker C, but with more conformity than the latter. And like all CVOs, it will sell its skin dearly (literally and figuratively). The starting price scratches the bank account of 29,300 euros. Standard equipment such as ABS, cruise control, keyless start and the HD start system kindly complete the endowment but are just trinkets compared to the spectacular style of the Breakout.
