Overview
If you have a budget of €34,000 and want a motorcycle that speaks louder than the others, you don't need to search long; the 2012 CVO Street Glide beckons with its Screamin’ Eagle engine, which occupies space like a sculptural block. With 1803 cm3, this 45° V-twin only produces 96 horsepower, a figure that would make a Japanese sportbike laugh. But here, we don't count in power; we measure in presence. Its torque of 148 Nm, available from 3750 rpm, is the main argument, a slow and deep traction that pulls you out of any gear without flinching.

Harley knows that for this price, the CVO customer expects a show. The machine is therefore a chrome exercise in style where every detail has been redesigned for the Rumble collection. The grips, footboards, passenger footpegs shine in the sun, while the skirt fairing and fork protectors display matching paint. The upholstery, with its French stitching and leather inserts, gives the custom, lowered seat and backrest the feel of a high-end workshop. We are far from sporty ergonomics; the seat height of 708 mm and the fully fueled weight of 384 kg impose a stately ride, a motorcycle to tame rather than pilot.
Technically, it offers what the American touring clientele demands: ABS, cruise control, and above all, a powerful audio system with six speakers and 100 watts per channel, connected to an integrated iPod Nano. The new ventilated leg fairings are a practical touch on a machine designed for long journeys. But with a 22.7-liter tank and a top speed of 170 km/h, it remains a cruising motorcycle, not a performance machine. The belt drive and six-speed gearbox ensure smooth and quiet progress, while the rather basic suspension and front dual 300 mm disc brakes are calibrated for comfort rather than urgency.
Compared to a BMW K1600GT or even a Gold Wing, this CVO Street Glide is a cultural object. It does not aim for versatile efficiency; it sells an American dream, an identity. Its audience is clear: the touring rider who wants a distinctive motorcycle, a personal monument that attracts attention at the bistro more than it crushes lap times in the mountains. At this price, you buy less a motorcycle than a status, a style statement that rolls with the deep sound of an engine that has chosen authority over speed. It is a bold gamble, and for those who believe in it, every kilometer becomes an affirmation.
