Overview
So, are we playing boulevard adventurer with a sound system that would make an outdoor concert pale in comparison? The 2016 CVO Street Glide is precisely that proposition: transforming every ride into the opening act of the Rolling Stones. Harley-Davidson has literally grafted a sound control tower between the handlebar tubes. We're talking about 600 watts distributed across four speakers, equalization settings worthy of a home studio, and an interface that accepts just about anything with an audio output. The idea is clear: you’re not buying a motorcycle, you’re investing in a sound-tracked road trip. For the traveler who counts their miles in playlists, it’s a massive argument.

But beneath this technological spectacle beats a heart that speaks a more primal language. The Twin Cam 110 of 1801 cm³, here in its Screamin’ Eagle version, is the centerpiece. Its 154.9 Nm of torque available from 3750 rpm are not numbers, it's a promise. The promise of pulling away from red lights with this massive traction and visceral growl that is the DNA of the brand. The liquid cooling system, cleverly concealed to preserve the air-cooled aesthetic, is the touch of modern engineering that allows this large twin-cylinder engine to remain serene in traffic jams. We are far from the frenzy of a Japanese engine revving high, but here, the sensation is quite different: it's a constant push, a wave of force that seems inexhaustible.
However, you really need to face the beast. At nearly 400 kg fully fueled, the Street Glide is not an athlete. It imposes its mass, especially at low speed or when maneuvering. The braking system, although solid with its two 300 mm front discs, requires anticipation and firmness. Compared to a BMW K 1600 B, for example, which is more fluid and technological, or even an Indian Chieftain, Harley focuses on emotion and style. Its double cradle frame, traditional suspensions, everything is calibrated for this highway stability and cruising comfort, not for attacking mountain passes at a brisk pace.
The price, however, is a shock. At over 38,000 euros, you enter another dimension. This money buys much more than a motorcycle: it's a ticket to enter the very closed circle of CVOs. Here, everything is top of the range. The Daymaker headlight illuminates like in broad daylight, the chrome Agressor wheels sparkle, the seat is a custom-made work of art, and the Boom! Box 6.5 GT screen with GPS is the control center of this rolling universe. It’s a machine for enthusiasts, for people who want the best from Milwaukee, without compromise.
Ultimately, this CVO Street Glide is an object apart. It doesn’t seek to be the most performant, the lightest or the most versatile. It is a complete sensory experience, a rolling manifesto of Harley-Davidson’s know-how and culture. It is aimed at the experienced rider who has already cut their teeth on roadsters and is now looking for great comfort, presence, and that legendary sound, amplified by an exceptional sound system. It’s the motorcycle for those who consider that the journey begins as soon as the engine starts, and that the soundtrack is an essential part of it. For others, it will simply be too expensive, too heavy, too… Harley. And that’s precisely what it wants to be.
