Overview
So, are we indulging in a legend costing €33,000? Is it worth it, or rather, the chrome? Let's be blunt: the CVO Road King 110th Anniversary isn’t a motorcycle, it’s an act of faith, a Harley-Davidson ritual pushed to its paroxysm. For that price, you could buy a beautiful European touring bike brimming with electronics and horsepower, but you’d miss the essential: the raw, almost archaic experience of a piece of America on wheels. It’s not a machine for traveling, it’s a machine for being.

Beneath this bichrome tank with Palladium motifs, proudly displaying its serial number among the 900 examples produced, beats the heart of the beast: the Twin Cam 110. 1802 cubic centimeters, the largest displacement ever offered by the company at the time. Forget the 96 horsepower, a laughable figure on a specification sheet. The truth is in the gut, with 154.9 Nm of torque available from 4000 rpm. This engine doesn’t propel, it pulls, it plows the asphalt with the authority of a locomotive. The sound is a fat rumble, a continuous bass that vibrates shop windows and vertebrae. On the highway, the advertised 170 km/h is a theoretical barrier; the essential is experienced between 100 and 130, installed in a rolling armchair where comfort is a religion.
And speaking of comfort, everything is about the riding position. The specific seat, the adjustable Slipstream controls, the audio system, the Agitator wheels, and the omnipresent chrome: it’s a finished exercise in style. Weighing in at 380 kg when fully fueled, it commands respect and a certain gymnastics for stopping. The 41.3 mm fork and the two shock absorbers swallow imperfections nonchalantly, but don’t mention tight turns to it. It’s a cruise, a cruise ship that directs itself by feel and counter-steering, with a disarming serenity once launched. The braking system, with dual 300 mm front discs, is correct but requires anticipation, the weight always playing its role.
So, for whom? Clearly not for a beginner, nor for a track rider seeking thrills. This CVO Road King is the pinnacle for the Harley purist, the one who seeks the ultimate object, rare, steeped in history and symbols. It’s the motorcycle of the one who prefers sensation to figures, presence to performance, and who considers each journey a ceremony. Next to it, a Gold Wing would seem too sterile, an Indian Chief too discreet. It fully embraces its status as a rolling sculpture, expensive, ostentatious, and irresistibly charismatic. A fantasy on two wheels, reserved for initiates who have the means and… the shoulders.
