Overview
They call it the SuperSport, but what sport are we talking about exactly? Not the one obsessed with stopwatch times or knee-down scraping on the asphalt. No, the Ducati Supersport 950 defends a more subtle, almost heretical idea for Bologna: that of a sportbike that wouldn't torture your back after two hours of riding. A grand touring motorcycle in Panigale clothing, so to speak. And it's precisely this paradox that makes it so charming and interesting in a market saturated with hyperspecialized machines.

With 110 horsepower drawn from the 937 cm3 Testastretta twin-cylinder, the 950 doesn't seek to impress on paper. Its Japanese rival, the Yamaha YZF-R7, boasts a similar power output but with far less charisma. Here, torque is the king: 93 Nm available from 6500 rpm, providing phenomenal pulling power in the low and mid ranges, without needing to rev the engine to the limit. This suppleness, coupled with a deep and assertive sound, makes the Ducati incredibly lively and intuitive on the road every day. The A2 version, restricted to 35 kW, is also an excellent entry point into the Ducati world for young riders, although its **price** remains a serious investment.
The real revolution, for this 2023 model, is hidden in the electronics. The addition of an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) transforms the experience. ABS becomes active in corners, traction control gains finesse, and the front lift-off limiter evolves into a true wheelie control system, subtly managing your bursts of enthusiasm. The three riding modes (Sport, Touring, Urban) are not mere gimmicks and noticeably change the character of the machine. The 4.3-inch TFT dashboard, inherited from the Monster, is a model of clarity and integrates perfectly into the mineral and racy cockpit.

But the magic mainly happens in the overall balance. The trellis frame, a Ducati signature in decline, offers a sensation of rigidity and valuable feedback. The riding position is a masterpiece of compromise: the torso is leaned forward, but not excessively, the footpegs are high without being extreme, and the underslung handlebar allows for precise control without wrist pain. With a **top speed** approaching 240 km/h and a 16-liter tank, it is perfectly capable of devouring long stretches of highway, even if the wind can be felt beyond 130 km/h. The **technical specifications** reveal a weight of 210 kg fully fueled, which is forgotten once in motion thanks to a low center of gravity and ideal weight distribution.
So, who is this machine for? Certainly not for the purebred track rider who would prefer a Panigale V2, more radical. The Ducati Supersport 950 targets the demanding globetrotter, the epicurean who wants to combine the thrill of a sportbike with the comfort of a GT. It is the sensible and seductive alternative to hyper-powerful roadsters and overly extreme sportbikes. Its drawback? Its **price**, just. Starting from €15,590, it costs a fortune, and the S version with its Öhlins suspension and Akrapovic exhaust further widens the gap. You can then turn to a **used Ducati Supersport 950** to lighten the bill. But let's admit it, riding the passes with this mix of agility, comfort, and that typical L-Twin rumble is priceless. It's a motorcycle that makes you smile without tiring you, and in 2024, that's a precious rarity.
