Overview
How do you transform an already overpowered machine into a disguised road bike? Ducati has its recipe, and it’s called the Sport. Take the base of the Multistrada V4 S, this hyper-trail packed with electronics and radar, and inject it with a dose of mechanical caffeine. The result is a 170 horsepower beast that has little to do with rocky trails, but clearly aims for winding asphalt.

The heart remains this 1158 cm³ Granturismo V4 engine, a motor that delivers its 124.5 Nm of torque with a disconcerting generosity, even at low revs. But here, the focus is on performance. The standard “Performance” equipment provides the first serious clue: a titanium Akrapovic exhaust, a carbon fiber front fender. It’s not just bling-bling, the sound becomes deeper, more present, and the chassis gains rigidity. We are far from the philosophy of the Pikes Peak, which is more radical, and we also avoid the cost of Öhlins suspension and Marchesini rims. The Sport plays the card of reasonable efficiency.
Because the base trim is already ultra-complete. The base S is not a poor thing: semi-active Marzocchi Skyhook suspension, Brembo Stylema monoblock brakes, 6.5-inch TFT screen, and above all, the suite of radar-assisted rider aids. Adaptive cruise control, blind spot detector, Cornering ABS, anti-wheelie… it’s all there. The rider is surrounded by a safety net of electronics that allows you to tame this power without fear. With a weight of 242 kg fully fueled, it’s not a featherweight, but its aluminum monocoque frame offers surprising agility for a machine of this size.

So, who is it for? Certainly not a beginner, despite all its aids. The 170 horsepower demand respect. It is the motorcycle for the demanding touring rider, the one who wants to devour asphalt in great comfort while having the reflexes of a sportbike at hand. It crushes the competition like the BMW S 1000 XR or the KTM 1290 Super Duke GT in terms of technology and engine feel, but it also imposes a significant price tag, approaching 27,000 euros. A price for a machine with no real compromise, except for the fact that it almost never leaves the pavement.
