Overview
Philip Island, January 2019. Bautista was discovering World Superbike, the Panigale V4 was discovering World Superbike, and Jonathan Rea ruled the discipline like a landowner over his acres. Three corners after the start of the first race, everything was settled: the red machine from Bologna flew away, inflicting a 15-second gap on the factory Kawasaki at the finish. A rookie on a rookie bike humiliating the reigning champion. The competition didn't sleep easy that night.

Five years later, Bautista had signed his second consecutive title and Ducati pulled out the grand book of house traditions. The method is well-known: a limited series stamped with the world champion's mark, just as they had already done for Bagnaia in MotoGP. The Panigale adopts the yellow livery worn at Misano and during the second race at Jerez, a shade that clashes brutally with the usual red and leaves no one indifferent. 219 units, not one more.
What distinguishes this version from the other "Racing 2023 Replica" variants comes down first to two substantive details: the brushed aluminium tank and the carbon fibre wings. The rest of the equipment is staggering. Under the bodywork, a 1103 cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 developing 215.5 hp at 13,000 rpm for 123.6 Nm of torque at 9,500 rpm, the whole package housed in an aluminium semi-perimeter frame at 172 kg dry. The nine-disc STM-EVO SBK dry clutch replaces the standard item, the Akrapovic silencers shed an additional 2 kg from the overall weight, and the Brembo Stylema R braking system with MCS master cylinder and adjustable reach has nothing to envy from factory machines. The Öhlins NPX 25/30 forks up front and TTX36 shock at the rear handle the rest. You brush 300 km/h at the end of the straight, but it is above all in direction changes that this carbon-clad frame reveals its character.
On the question of exclusivity, Ducati holds nothing back. The upper fork yoke carries a laser engraving with the model name and its individual serial number. The seat reprises the material and logo from Alvaro's race bike. Each machine is delivered in a silk-screened wooden crate, accompanied by a personalised cover, a certificate of authenticity, and the rider's signature on the tank protected under clear coat. Ducati also provides a complete track preparation kit with a machined racing fuel cap, removable licence plate bracket, and GPS module to display lap times on the dashboard. Carbon everywhere: heat shield, open clutch cover, alternator cover, rear mudguard, calliper cooling ducts, swingarm protector in carbon-titanium.

The downside? It comes down to five figures: €68,000. That is €5,000 more than the first Bautista Replica edition, which amounts to billing the second title at the price of a mid-range motorcycle. The logic is ironclad on the marketing side, less amusing on the wallet side. This price obviously places the machine beyond the reach of the average Sunday track day rider, and firmly in the category of numbered collector's pieces. The typical buyer is not a rider chasing lap times — it is a wealthy enthusiast who wants to own a homologated piece of motorsport history. In that segment, up against the limited-series Aprilia RSV4 Factory or BMW M 1000 RR, Ducati plays in a different league: one of symbolism as much as performance.
