Overview
Some manufacturers play the exclusivity card at all costs. Benelli prefers to widen the circle. After offering an 899 version of its TnT roadster, the small Pesaro-based brand returns to the formula with a displacement-reduced variant of its Tre-K sport trail. Same recipe, same philosophy: take an impressive powerplant and make it a little less intimidating, without sacrificing the essentials.

Visually, don't try to spot the differences at a glance — you'll struggle. The Tre-K 899 wears the frame and silhouette of the 1130 like a slightly tamed twin. The tubular trellis frame shifts from bright red to a more understated black, the small belly pan disappears, the instrument cluster is simplified. That's about it. The line remains sharp, aggressive, unmistakable. On this point, Benelli held nothing back: this trail has a look that many standardized Japanese machines would envy.
Beneath the 22-liter tank, the 899 cc three-cylinder runs at a high 12.5:1 compression ratio, with four valves per cylinder and a short 49.2 mm bore. The result: 115 horsepower at 10,500 rpm and 77.5 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. Compared to the 1130, you lose around ten horsepower and a few newton-meters. That's not nothing, but when you think about it, 115 hp in a trail bike weighing 215 kg dry remains a serious proposition. The big brother had a reputation for rattling less experienced riders from the very first roll of the throttle. This one should prove more accommodating without ever becoming a cure for insomnia.
The technical specification deserves attention. The 50 mm inverted fork with 120 mm of travel, the rear mono-shock with matching travel, the four-piston Brembo calipers biting on two 320 mm discs up front: this is not an entry-level catalog. At 9,990 euros, the Tre-K 899 occupies interesting ground against German and Japanese competition playing in the same sport trail category. For that price, you get genuine mechanical character, a three-cylinder exhaust note that nobody truly replicates, and a look that resembles nothing else.
The target audience is clearly the experienced rider who finds high-displacement trail bikes too excessive for daily use, or the enthusiast who wants to step outside the well-worn paths of mass production without breaking the bank. This is not a machine for beginners — the 840 mm seat height and 240 kg wet weight demand a certain ease in the saddle. But for anyone seeking a trail with character, a lively engine, and a design that leaves no one indifferent, Benelli has hit the mark with this 899.
