Overview
While supermotard bikes reigned supreme in the paddocks with unrestricted single-cylinder engines, KTM built its orange empire on competition, and Ducati played the prestige card with its large-displacement models, few thought about young A1 license holders who also wanted to taste this tense riding style, arms pulled, eyes down. The Aprilia SX 125 2025 fills this void, and it does so without complex thought.

The current model year marks a real stylistic shift from previous generations. Those who remember the Aprilia SX 125 2018 or the Aprilia SX 125 2020 recognize the silhouette, but the machine has evolved. The front optical unit is more incisive, almost aggressive, with a redesigned plate that hardens the overall expression. The flanks have straightened, gaining verticality at the expense of roundness, and one can guess in this posture something that recalls the Dorsoduro, the former high-displacement supermotard from the Noale factory. A shortened, black-clad silencer covers a cut-out triangular rear section. On this point, Aprilia has done good work; the motorcycle displays graphic coherence that not all of its direct rivals possess, starting with the Husqvarna Svartpilen 125.
What stands out once in the saddle is the dashboard. The dull LCD screen that equipped the Aprilia SX 125 2021 and the Aprilia SX 125 2022 is gone; in its place is a generous, readable color panel that displays speed, the tachometer with a chromatic progression, the gear engaged, engine temperature, two trips, instantaneous fuel consumption, and the maximum speed reached in session. The only notable omission is the lack of a fuel gauge, which becomes bothersome with only 7 liters in reserve. At 2.6 liters per 100 kilometers, the range remains correct, but one would like not to have to do the mental calculation. For the rest, the instrumentation block is frankly ahead of the category.
The Aprilia SX 125 technical specifications reveal an architecture consistent with the supermotard usage. The steel tube frame accommodates an inverted 41 mm fork and a progressive-link mono-shock absorber, with generous travel to handle curbs and speed bumps. The 17-inch spoked wheels receive sport tires, and the 300 mm front disc works with an ABS coupled with a rear anti-slip function during braking. This latter technology, integrated from the Aprilia SX 125 2018, remains rare on small displacement engines. The KTM Duke 125 offers ABS, but not this specific management for powerful braking in supermotard use. Here, Aprilia takes a real, non-marketing lead.

The engine, for its part, plays within regulatory limits. The 124.2 cc four-stroke single-cylinder delivers 15 horsepower at 10,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm at 8,500 rpm, slightly pushed values towards the high revs compared to previous versions to satisfy Euro5+. The maximum speed of the Aprilia SX 125 is capped at 120 km/h on the flat, which is honest in the category. The six gears allow you to stay in the useful range, but you have to work the gearbox to maintain momentum. It's not a criticism, it's the nature of a sporty 125. Those looking for the Aprilia SX 125 de-restricted or fantasizing about a radical Aprilia SX 125 tuning will pass their way; this machine is designed for engaged and clean riding, not for excesses. It weighs 134 kg full and displays a seat at 880 mm, which destines it to an average or tall build, and clearly to a young license audience motivated, not to a novice seeking tranquility.

Displayed at 3,699 euros, the Aprilia SX 125 price is in the high end of the segment, with competition beginning to bite on the same territory. But the perceived quality, the onboard electronics, and the consistency of the supermotard package justify the gap. On the market for the Aprilia SX 125 used, recent model years are negotiated well, which testifies to a solid confidence rating. For those who want to hone their skills in supermotard without sacrificing technology, it is today the obvious reference in its category.
