Overview
Imagine Aprilia not being satisfied with selling you a 201-horsepower motorcycle. Imagine the racing department deciding to cross the line and offer the end customer directly what Superbike teams receive in their race trucks. That is exactly what the RSV4 R Factory Works represents: a statement of intent signed by Noale, addressed to riders who find the production version too tame.

The base is already formidable. The 65-degree V4 of 999.6 cc, with its 78 mm bore and 52.3 mm stroke, sits in a twin-spar perimeter aluminum frame that has proven itself for years in world-level competition. The 43 mm inverted Öhlins fork and the matching monoshock leave no doubt about the machine's intentions. Radially mounted Brembo calipers biting 330 mm discs up front complete a package that has absolutely nothing to envy from Japanese track machines — a ZX-10R or a CBR1000RR of the same era did not come standard with this level of equipment.
The Factory Works variant goes even further. The Stock1 MM Race program begins by stripping weight from the RSV4 where it matters: ABS removal, lithium battery, radiator thermostat deleted, simplified plumbing, secondary air cooling. The ECU is remapped with calibrations signed by Aprilia Racing, and the engine sheds weight through ablation of components deemed superfluous for the track. The result, in its highest state of tune, climbs to 230 horsepower — some thirty units above the production specification. Given that the road version already tops out at 300 km/h, the progression is far from trivial. Forged wheels and Race Pack Öhlins suspension are listed in the options catalog, as are the Akrapovic exhaust and full fairing kit.
What sets this approach apart from simply selling spare parts is the support package. Aprilia Racing provides technical training tailored to the chosen preparation level, followed by circuit validation. You do not leave with a transformed machine without understanding what you have on your hands. At 17,200 euros as a starting point — before options — it reflects a kind of seriousness that stands in contrast to certain manufacturers who sell extra horsepower without the instruction manual.
This program is clearly aimed at a very specific audience: experienced riders, regular circuit competitors, seeking a homologated machine for customer Superbike championships without going through the acquisition of a full-on race bike. On the road, the RSV4 in this configuration makes no sense whatsoever. The ergonomics are carved for racing lines, comfort is nonexistent, and the temperament of the race-only engine demands strong wrists and a well-fastened helmet. But that is precisely the contract, stated without ambiguity from the very first glance at the build sheet.
