Overview
When Ducati decided to inflate the Panigale beyond the Superbike regulatory limits, the Italian industry understood that a new playing field was opening up. More displacement, more horsepower, fewer sporting constraints, all homologated for the road. Aprilia wasn't going to be a spectator. The brand from Noale took its V4, the one that earned it so many victories in competition, and increased its bore from 78 to 81 mm. The result is 1078 cm3 and 217 horsepower at 13,200 rpm. The Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory 2019 enters the yard of machines that no longer have a ceiling.

That figure deserves a closer look. Two hundred seventeen horsepower for 199 kilograms at full weight is a power-to-weight ratio that places this motorcycle in a category of its own. The Panigale V4 approaches similar values, but the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory plays a different game. The 65-degree V4 has retained its raw character, its high operating range, and its 122 Nm of torque that doesn't arrive until 11,000 rpm. This isn't a motorcycle that pulls strongly from low revs to flatter the Sunday rider. It's a machine that rewards those who know how to read a tachometer. Underneath a fourth-generation APRC electronic suite, eight levels of traction control, three levels of anti-wheelie, a launch control, a bidirectional quickshifter, and an active cornering ABS: everything is there to make this power accessible without completely taming it. Three riding modes, Sport, Track, and Race, modulate the delivery without limiting maximum power.
The chassis is up to the task. The fully adjustable Öhlins fork gains a few millimeters of travel, the rear monoshock with external reservoir is in the same Swedish vein. The perimeter aluminum frame, forged wheels, wheelbase of 1439 mm reduced by 4 mm to load the front more in corners: the technical specifications of the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory confirm a rigorous philosophy. Brembo Stylema calipers on dual floating discs close the file without discussion. Here we find a track bike tailored for well-trained riders; the 851 mm seat height and the theoretical 305 km/h clearly orient towards experienced builds. Beginners have nothing to do here.
The Akrapovic titanium exhaust is standard equipment, and that's a real generosity for a displayed price of 22,999 euros. Searching for an Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory 2019 used now allows access to this technology at more digestible prices. For those who compare the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory price against Ducati or BMW, it must be admitted that these three brands play in comparable ranges, with distinct philosophies. The MotoGP-style wings, inherited from the RS-GP program, divide opinion: they increase stability at high speed, but visually weigh down a line that previous generations carried with more Latin elegance. And the dark color scheme offered at launch did not improve things compared to the more spectacular racing liveries that Noale knows how to produce.
This motorcycle is unequivocally aimed at seasoned track riders, those who know the value of a suspension setting and know what it means to exploit 217 horsepower on a straight track. The MIA platform allows for turn-by-turn parameter personalization via smartphone, a level of sophistication that underlines how the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory positions itself as a performance tool before being a daily pleasure object. Kawasaki responded to this horsepower war with a supercharger on the H2R. Aprilia chose the classic path, that of pure mechanics pushed to its limits. The result is less spectacular on paper, but more consistent on the track, where this machine finally finds its true territory.
