Overview
Thirty-three years separate a grand prix victory and this motorcycle. In 1987, Loris Reggiani gave Aprilia its first ever success in world competition on the Misano circuit, in the Marche region of Italy. It is this precise memory, this date etched in the history of the Noale brand, that the RSV4 1000 RR Misano Limited Edition carries on its flanks like a family crest.

The tricolor livery is no deception: Aprilia is playing the heritage card here with a mastered skill. The large lower fairing "A," the racing colors reminiscent of the team’s livery from that era, everything is designed to provoke immediate recognition among connoisseurs. This is not mere cosmetic marketing. It is a declaration of belonging, the kind of detail that makes the difference between a forgettable limited series and a collector's item. Only one hundred units, reserved for the American market, with a lithium battery and a carbon fiber front fender as a bonus to justify the displayed 16,335 euros. An Italian privilege, as Aprilia has kept secret since its Summit Attack edition.
Under the fairing, the mechanics speak for themselves with brutal frankness. The 65-degree V4 engine with a displacement of 999.60 cc produces 201 horsepower at 13,000 rpm and 114.7 Nm of torque at 10,500 rpm, all in a machine that weighs 180 kg dry on the scale. For a concrete reference, the Ducati Panigale V4 S of the same era produces around 195 horsepower for a similar weight. Aprilia's advantage lies mainly in the compactness of the 65-degree V4 engine, which allows for remarkable mass centralization and agility in direction changes that inline four-cylinder engines cannot really match. The perimeter aluminum frame, the 43 mm inverted fork, and the mono-shock with 130 mm of travel form a set that has proven its worth in Superbike through several successive manufacturer titles.
The onboard electronic arsenal reflects what the hypersport category offers at the high end. Bidirectional quickshifter, traction control, wheelie control, cornering ABS, Launch Control, pit limiter, anti-stoppie, three riding modes, and cruise control constitute a complete package that reassures on the road and unleashes the machine on the track. Brembo radial-mount calipers biting 330 mm discs take care of braking the announced 300 km/h on the speedometer. The seat height of 840 mm and the 18-liter fuel tank recall that the RSV4 remains a pure sportbike, without concessions to everyday comfort. This is not a motorcycle for small, insecure builds or for those who want to swallow kilometers of national roads as a tourist.
The question posed by this Misano edition is ultimately that of its profound meaning. Aprilia could have settled for a sticker kit and a numbered plate. The brand has chosen to tell a story, to anchor the machine in a real and documented victory. For an experienced rider looking for an RSV4 that stands out from the crowd, for a collector who understands the reference to Reggiani and that 1987 GP, the proposition is coherent and honest. For others, the standard RSV4 RR delivers exactly the same sensations for less money. But owning a motorcycle is also choosing which story you want to ride with.
