Overview
One hundred thousand euros. Before tax. Let that figure settle in for a second before continuing. This isn't the price of a sports car, nor a boat. This is what Aprilia asks for to hand you the keys to an RSV4 R-FW W-SBK, 2016 version, prepared by the Factory Works department in Noale. And while the sum may elicit a smile, the list of parts justifying this bill certainly does not.

Let's start with the engine. The 65-degree V4 of 999.6 cc, already ferocious in standard form, receives here a favored treatment that extracts 220 horsepower at 14,500 rpm. This figure is presented as a minimum, which says everything about the machine's philosophy. Bore of 78 mm, stroke of 52.3 mm, four valves per cylinder: the mechanics are those of a prototype, not a catalog sportbike. The six-speed transmission and final chain remain classics that nothing surpasses at this level.
The suspension comes from the competition catalog without compromise. The 43 mm Öhlins FG 300 inverted fork and the TTXGP monoshock are the parts found in the pits of the World Superbike Championship, not civilian derivatives or hastily homologated variants. At the rear, the swingarm directly reproduces the geometry of the equipment entered in WSBK. Braking follows the same logic: four-piston Brembo GP4 RR monoblock calipers, racing 328 mm discs at the front, a system that bites with the brutality of a tool designed to point at 186 mph before a hairpin turn. Forged aluminum rims lighten the unsprung mass, and 120/70-17 and 200/55-17 tires complete a rolling chassis without compromise. The aluminum fuel tank, enlarged to 22.5 liters, allows for endurance race pit stops worthy of a real race.
Facing it, a Ducati Panigale V4 R or a BMW M 1000 RR seem almost reasonable, both in their price and in their positioning. These machines remain high-end sportbikes usable daily with some effort. The RSV4 R-FW W-SBK does not seek this compromise. It is aimed at a rider, not a motorcyclist, at someone who has a team to prepare the bike on Friday evening and who lines up on the grid on Saturday morning. Noale even offers to customize the level of preparation according to the budget and ambitions of each client, which confirms that here you are buying a complete sports program, not a finished product.
The carbon fiber fairing and seat support in the same material reduce mass where it is measurable. Everything is adjustable, electronics included. The latter point counts as much as the mechanical parts in a category where torque management on corner exits separates the podiums from the track exits. For those who have the means and the project, this RSV4 represents the most direct path between a team check and a competitive machine in the championship. For others, it remains a fascinating showcase of what Aprilia can build when no one asks it to keep a budget.
