Overview
When Noale decides to sell directly to individuals what its riders field in the World Superbike Championship, one can legitimately wonder where the border between road homologation and pure competition tool ends. The 2017 RSV4-R FW Stock1 MM Race answers this question with disarming brutality: it stops nowhere, and that is precisely its purpose.

The base is already a 65-degree V4 engine of 999.6 cc developing 201 horsepower in standard version. On this Factory Works version, Aprilia Racing takes the standard ECU and completely reprograms it, removes the thermostat, the secondary air circuit, simplifies the cooling lines and lightens the entire powertrain group. The Akrapovic kit completes the work on the exhaust side. In the most advanced configurations of the FW range, this same engine exceeds 250 horsepower, placing it in a GP register that very few manufacturers dare to offer in their catalog. For 17,900 euros, the buyer receives a machine capable of reaching 186 mph, with forged rims and a lithium battery included in the Race Pack.
The philosophy of this Stock1 MM Race lies in its equipment choices. Öhlins suspensions mark a total presence here, an inverted 43 mm telescopic fork at the front, an Öhlins mono-shock at the rear, for a perimeter aluminum double-beam frame that Aprilia has mastered for years on its factory machines. The Brembo braking system with double 330 mm discs and radial four-piston calipers is not there just to look pretty, and the deliberate absence of ABS confirms the exclusive circuit destination. This is far from a Ducati Panigale V4 R that can still be ventured on the road on a Sunday morning; the project is elsewhere, more focused, less compromised.
What distinguishes this preparation from a simple kit of parts is the integrated V4-MP telemetry. The system allows for electronic adjustments turn by turn, a refinement that professional teams use to fine-tune their settings according to the characteristics of each point on the track. Coupled with the reprogrammed dashboard instruments that manage lap times, the whole forms a serious analysis platform, not a marketing gimmick. Aprilia Racing does not just deliver the machine: each buyer benefits from technical training followed by validation on the track, which says a lot about the level of skill required to properly exploit this motorcycle. This is not an RSV4 improved for the ego of a wealthy gentleman rider; it is a tool intended for an experienced driver, capable of interpreting telemetry data and adapting his riding accordingly.
The positioning is consistent but demanding. Faced with a BMW M 1000 RR or a Honda CBR1000RR-R SP in their most accomplished version, Aprilia plays the card of advanced customization and factory support, which justifies its price. The target audience is not the weekend motorcyclist looking for thrills; it is the amateur or professional championship driver who needs a competition base on which to rely, with the technical support that goes with it. For this specific profile, this RSV4-R FW Stock1 MM Race is a difficult proposition to bypass.
