Overview
So, a Monster Energy Edition on a YZ 250 F. Yamaha persists and signs for 2022 with this special livery, a commercial partnership that finds its audience. We move from the usual Icon blue to a predominantly black paint scheme, where a gigantic neon green “M” occupies the flanks. This is pure and hard branding, a livery that recalls the official Monster Energy teams in MX2 and MXGP. For the rest, it’s a standard YZ 250 F in all its splendor.

The modifications specific to this version are minimal, almost cosmetic. Yamaha announces revised settings on the famous SSS system fork, a new transmission sprocket, a gold chain, and DID rims. The rear wheel benefits from a wider rim for the 110/90 tire, a lightweight hub, and redesigned spokes. The objective is still the same: to seek lightness and reliability on a brutal terrain. But in substance, under this paint, it’s strictly the same motorcycle as the production version.
And this base, the YZ 250 F, has already been profoundly reworked in 2021. The overhaul was massive: engine revised, intake redesigned, injection refined, gearbox reinforced, chassis improved, braking optimized. The 250 cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine, with its inverted head and four titanium valves, aims for increased power and a smoother response. Engineers optimized the intake and exhaust for high RPMs, reworked cam profiles, and gave more robustness to the clutch and transmission. The aluminum twin-spar frame seeks a balance between rigidity and flexibility. The suspensions, an inverted 48 mm fork at the front and a mono-shock at the rear, are tuned for maneuverability. The brakes, a 270 mm disc at the front and a 245 mm disc at the rear, are light and powerful. Everything is designed for competition.
At nearly 9000 euros, this Monster Energy Edition does not offer any radical technical innovation. It is the already known flagship weapon, but dressed for the stage. Its announced weight of 106 kg fully fueled, with a tank of only 6 liters, confirms its purely sporting vocation on circuit or in closed terrain. A seat height of 970 mm and a power of 42 horsepower destine it to an already experienced rider, capable of taking advantage of its nervous character and liveliness. It is a motorcycle for the serious track rider, the one who seeks brute performance and reliability, and who can appreciate the aggressive aesthetics of this partnership. The choice is simple: if you wanted a 2022 YZ 250 F, you already have it. This Edition is for those who also want a little Monster Energy look in their garage.
