Overview
Do you remember that feeling of invincibility that the big trail bike gave you ten years ago? The feeling of a motorcycle capable of swallowing everything, from broken asphalt to rocky trails, without ever flinching. The Yamaha XTZE 1200 Super Ténéré, especially in its high-end version, seems to be the guardian of this flame. With its 112 horsepower at 7250 rpm and 116.7 Nm of torque, the inline twin doesn't seek confrontation with super-sportives. Its strength lies elsewhere, in a mechanical fullness that delivers its power in a linear and reassuring way, perfectly suited to loaded travel. We are far from the brutality of a Ducati twin or the nervousness of a BMW flat-twin, but it is precisely this character that forges its identity.

To understand the positioning of this Yamaha XTZE 1200 Super Ténéré, you need to look at its equipment. The E version stands out with its electronically adjustable suspension, a giant leap towards the high-end. No need for screwdrivers to adjust preload and damping: a button on the handlebar and a menu give you access to a plethora of combinations. The system is complete, even if it remains one step below the semi-active suspensions that equip some competitors. This places the Ténéré in the courtyard of technological trails, alongside the GS or the Adventure, but with its own temperament, less clinical and more substantial.
On the scale, the 265 kg fully fueled are felt, especially when stopped or in slow maneuvers. The seat height of 845 mm doesn’t help pilots of small stature. But once launched, this mass disappears masterfully. The shaft drive ensures impeccable torque transmission, without jerks, while the 23-liter tank promises ranges that will make many touring bikes pale. It is a comfort compressor, insensitive to road imperfections. The braking system, with its double front discs, is effective without being aggressive, in perfect harmony with the spirit of the machine.
So, who is this workhorse for? Certainly not the hardcore adventurer, who will prefer a KTM that is lighter and more agile off-road. On the other hand, for the great globetrotter who travels thousands of kilometers on varied roads, often in pairs and with luggage, the Super Ténéré finds its reason for being. Its price of €14,999 places it in the high end, but it justifies this investment with unwavering reliability and very complete equipment, including heated grips and cruise control. It is a motorcycle that will not surprise you with explosive performance, but that will win you over with its immense versatility and its tireless character. A faithful road companion, in the purest tradition of the great trails.
