Overview

When Yamaha Brazil decides to mix fuel injection and pop culture, the result is something you'll never encounter on European roads. The FZ 25 Thor Edition 2023 is a limited series of one thousand units, reserved for the Brazilian market, and it embraces without apology its role as a rolling replica of the god of Asgard.

Yamaha Fazer FZ 25 Thor Edition

The livery catches your eye before you even turn the key. Electric blue, blood red, gold accents: the colorway reproduces, detail for detail, the costume seen in *Thor: Love and Thunder*. Yamaha pushed the detailing far enough to place a Mjolnir hammer sticker on the front fender. It's unapologetically kitsch, Brazilian to the core, and frankly, in a market where motorcycling is lived as a celebration, it lands better than you'd expect under our grey skies. This isn't the first time the two brands have played this game: the FZ 25 Thor marks the sixth collaboration between Yamaha Brazil and Marvel, following notably an MT-03 Iron Man, a Fazer 250 Black Panther, and an Nmax 160 Spider-Man. A consistent franchise, almost expected at this point.

Beneath the bodywork dressed in divine vengeance colors, the mechanicals remain those of a serious utility machine, nothing more, nothing less. The 249 cc air-cooled single-cylinder develops 21.5 horsepower at 8,000 rpm for 20.6 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. It's a far cry from the 35 hp of a Honda CB300R or the 31 hp of a KTM Duke 250, but the positioning isn't the same. The FZ 25 targets everyday urban and suburban Brazilian use, where reliability and accessibility take precedence over outright sportiness. At 149 kg dry, with an 790 mm seat height and a well-spaced five-speed gearbox, it handles effortlessly. The claimed top speed of 135 km/h clearly keeps it off fast motorways, but for everything else, it delivers on its promise.

What truly sets this FZ 25 apart from its regional competitors is its Blueflex injection system. The engine runs equally well on regular gasoline or ethanol, the fuel of choice in Brazil where sugarcane flows abundantly. A technical pragmatism that doesn't exist in Europe, but which on Brazilian soil represents a concrete everyday economic advantage. Add ABS, LED headlights, and a digital instrument cluster, and you have a solid technical foundation dressed up in a superhero outfit.

The steel tubular frame, the telescopic hydraulic fork with 130 mm of travel, and the rear monoshock with 120 mm of travel form a chassis with no surprises but no critical flaws either. The brakes — a 282 mm front disc with a twin-piston caliper and a 220 mm rear disc — are adequate for the uses this motorcycle is intended for. You don't take a FZ 25 Thor Edition to the track; you commute to work, cruise on weekends, and turn heads at intersections.

For the Brazilian rider who wants a reliable, lightweight, technologically equipped, and visually distinctive machine, this 1,000-unit edition addresses a genuine demand. It's an everyday motorcycle disguised as a collector's item, and in that precise role, it convinces. The Marvel fan will find what they're looking for, and so will the pragmatic rider — provided they don't seek thrills beyond what 21 horsepower can deliver.
