Overview
So, a 2006 Suzuki GSX 600 F is a bit like reconnecting with an old high school friend. You remember its look, a bit quirky with that particular rear light and that bio-design which caused a stir upon its release, especially on the first generation of the Suzuki GSX 600 F in 1991. But time has passed, and this faired touring bike, at the time unique in the 600 class, has aged. Its engine, a 600 cc inline four-cylinder, gives you 80 horsepower, but only if you push it beyond 10,000 rpm. At low rpm, it’s a bit soft, like all engines in this category. You have to rev it to feel the torque of 55.9 Nm, a philosophy that doesn’t suit everyone, especially if you’re looking for a motorcycle for an A2 license.

On the chassis side, we are far from the rigidity of a modern sportbike. The double cradle frame and the suspension, a 41 mm fork and a mono-shock, do their job with a certain good nature. It is stable in large curves, but requires anticipation if you want to push it. With a wet weight of 229 kg, it is not the most agile. The braking, two discs at the front and one at the rear, is correct for quiet road use, but doesn’t provoke any frenzy. For pure pleasure, there was the GSX-R. The GSX 600 F, with its low seat at 785 mm and its 20-liter tank, rather targets the touring rider who wants to cover long distances without breaking the bank. Its price of 6299 euros at the time and its availability used today make it an economical option.
Ultimately, this Suzuki GSX 600 F is an honest, unassuming machine. It suits someone starting out on a reasonably sized touring bike, or someone looking for a Suzuki GSX 600 F or GSX 750 F for their A2 license, with a version restricted to 34 hp available. It’s a motorcycle that no longer surprises, but does the job with solid reliability. To consult the details, you can always refer to the technical specifications of the Suzuki GSX 600 F, or to its ficha técnica for our Spanish friends. It represents an era, a compromise, and for some, a safe first step into the world of faired motorcycles.
