The Suzuki GSX 600 F of 2004 is precisely that machine, an interesting compromise that avoids excess and focuses on the essentials. With its 80 horsepower drawn from an inline four-cylinder engine, it doesn't seek to impress you from the first turn of the key. You have to let the engine climb to 9500 rpm to feel its torque of 55.9 Nm, because in the low revs, as is often the case with these engines, the breathing is modest. It’s a motorcycle that requires a little patience, or a more engaged riding style.

Its look is a subject in itself. It borrows the "bio-design" plastics from its big sister, the GSX 750 F, with that particular rear light that was eventually replaced by a more conventional model in 2004. It’s not the graceful beauty of a sportbike, but it has a personality, a presence. The double cradle frame and 41 mm fork ensure a stable base, while the weight of 229 kg fully fueled and the low seat at 785 mm make the handling accessible, almost reassuring. You can feel that the Suzuki GSX 600 F was designed to ride, not to show off.
Compared to more nervous competitors, it positions itself as a quiet road bike. The riding position leans slightly towards the sport, encouraging long journeys rather than tight urban maneuvers. On the road, it is faithful, tenacious in the large, fast curves thanks to a well-balanced geometry. However, the dual 290 mm disc brakes and the suspension are not absolute references. They are sufficient for classic road use, but if you are looking for the surgical precision of a GSX-R, you will have to look elsewhere. It’s an older design, which requires anticipatory riding, especially when you stress its suspensions.
For whom, ultimately? The target audience is clear: the touring rider who wants a faired, comfortable motorcycle, without the expense and nervousness of a pure sportbike. Its price of 6299 euros at the time and its availability in a 34 hp version for the A2 license make it a serious option for a beginner wanting a road bike without breaking the bank. The Suzuki GSX 600 F, in its versions from 1991 to 1998 or on the used market today, remains a pragmatic choice. It doesn't make you dream with dazzling figures, but it offers an honest and versatile travel experience, a balanced specification sheet for those who prioritize use over spectacle.
